Nicholas If your extension follows the shape of your hull and is wide enough, then to me, you just made your boat longer and the outboard should be mounted at the normal height. This advice is worth exactly what you paid for it. Thanks for watching! Barry

Mazda Man The 1" per foot of set back is the general rule, but I don't have a general hull shape. My hull has a steeper deadrise that most so I made allowances for that by raising the bracket an extra one and a half inches. We will know in the future if I made a good decision or not. @@barrylukebuilds7894 Brackes have been mounted on deep V boast for years. Looking at vid 1 of the series, the answer is rright in front of you, no guess work at all, along with pics of similar boats on line. All the single outboards shown on line have their ainti cave plates level or slightly above the bottob of the boat ay the v. I you are going with a single measure up form the bottom fo the length of your motor leg and go from there. Fodual usog the same leg length as original, use the that height to mount the bracket . But it really don't matter where you put the bracket if you use a jack plate (buy or build) to set motor height. With a jack plate you can set bracket to what looks good on the boat and let the plate position motor to proper height. about $400 to $500 to buy, about $100 or less to make

Blind one I started building the foundry a couple of years before I retired (quit my good job with lots of benefits). The main objection being able to cast my Wife’s artwork in bronze. The foundry is now fully functional, I can cast in nonferrous metals (brass, bronze, and aluminum). It also functions as a very cool man cave where I have been lucky enough to use for various projects. I have a few you tube videos on doing foundry projects if you search my channel. @@blindabinda1234 I was a hippie house framer for the first 10 years after graduation from college and then moved into the heavy construction field where I worked the next 27 years. The last 25 as a project superintendent on various municipal jobs. Waste water and drinking water plants and various flood control projects. Always for city, state, or federal owners. It was a good run but the bigger projects can take a toll. Retired at 61 and never regretted it! Barry

@@barrylukebuilds7894 on nice. I do excavation. Been doing it since I was in high school. My 2 buddies father started the business when we were in high school. Started as a laborer while my 2 friends and father ran the machines. I'd get my chance to play around here and there. Now I run the machines full time. We do work for a couple of the towns near us doing water, sewer, and drainage work.

I found the one I used on the houseboat build laying at a boat yard, sort of somebody changed their mind deal. I found this on on Facebook marketplace. Look around, you will find one!

Peter Thanks for the comment and I don't necessary disagree with you but... I felt I should design the transom for loads it probably will encounter and not loads that it "should" encounter. The important word you used is SHOULD. No one should exceed the speed limit. No one should overload a trailer. No one should blow through a stop sign. No one should record video with their phone held vertically. BUT they all happen daily.

@@Crewsy Wayne you need to calm down! as an accident free retired professional driver of over 37 years I am fully aware of what should, and actually what happens on the roads worldwide, in my time I have seen it all, well at least I have seen enough to think I have seen it all, But my comments to Barry were meant to be tongue in cheek! But I am sure you have seen like me on youtube all the idiots doing stupid things with their boats due to inexperience at best, and pure incompetence at worst. and of course there are many talented and experienced boat owners too.

If you get worked up that easily from a comment online then I can’t understand how you drove 37 years accident (or heart attack) free. I used to deliver propane in Toronto. Bet we could swap some idiot driver horror stories.
