Hi, I just bought the quicrun 3660 3150kv combo. I put a 57t spur and 15t pinion on it. I’m curious the ESC is rated for 4s but the motor is rated for 3s. Could I turn the timing down to 3.75 or even 0 to run 4s smoothly? I’m planning on doing off roading and it’s a 4x4

I have a hobby wing quicrun 16bl30 ESC and it gets quite hot after just 1 battery. Does timing have anything to do with that??

Does raising bell timing increase speed threw the entire rpm range and increasing turbo threw esc make it kick in after full throttle it gets more confusing for me bec I believe you can also choose rpm range for Boost and turbo I may b wrong gotta double check that

I have a max10 g2 , recommend using turbo timing for bashing? I like the sound of what it does and I do got temps in check just don’t know if it could hurt anything or be useless

No, we never "recommend" using timing. Adds speed, but also adds heat and takes runtime. It's not useless, but it's also some what risky to use. Like a gearing change in many ways.

I run both the XR10 G2 elite and the XD10 Pro with 2 MST RMX 2.5 drift cars , The motors have to run CCW , Does that mean I have to adjust the mechanical timing in the opposite direction ? as in if I want more timing (say 40 degrees) I need to set the Dial of the D10 Motor bell timing to 20 degrees as the motor is Counter Clock Wise ? Any help would be great :) 🤗

CCW is "normal" rotation so Timing is normal. If set to CW, the motor goes backwards so timing is in fact opposite.

Hey Charlie I was under the impression that turbo increased the rpm over the entire rpm range and boost you would set for whatever rpm you needed to kick in and end at where am I confused does the bell timing and esc setting for timing both kick in after full throttle I would like to know I use all HW for RC drift would like to know for better tuning this season

You are incorrect. I'll try to make this as simple as possible. Charlie rarely replies to comments. End Bell timing changes the KV over the entire range. Boost timing is a mid range timing adjustment if you will. Let's say you have it set to 10 degrees that starts at 5000 rpm and ends at 20,000. What this really means is the timing increases in a linear rate between those 2 points. It does not go away at 20,000 rpms or higher, it means you have all 10 degrees added in by that rpm. Turbo is typically added after 100%. Like boost, you enter in a maximum value for gain. However, the control of increase is a bit different. You can set individually how many degrees of advance come in per every .1 of a second. Same is true for how quickly it decreases when you let off 100% throttle. Don't forget, timing compounds. If you have 40 degrees end bell, 20 degrees boost and 20 degrees turbo, that's 60 degree timing advance once all the turbo comes it. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, that's how ESC's turn into smoke bombs.
