And he respected Lee’s attitude towards his own work and others, Stan knew he was looking at the future with all these guys. I think he really did like Leifeld and McFarlane, but did not feel respect returned from them. Jim is and has always been such a nice and passionate creator and I’m so glad DC is in his hands.

Larry - I've been out of the game for some time now but for me, Jim Lee will ALWAYS be associated with the 90's and with X-Men and certainly Punisher War Journal. No offense to his Image or DC days, but just saying that in my mind he was pretty a great penciler before he got to DC.

Well you have to understand that while Superman IS iconic and his own unique character in his own right, Superman IS the base archetypical of all Superhero models so people will usually draw superman by default for a traditional superhero basis for a generic superhero character if they just wanted to draw in or make an example of one!

That's why he's one of the best artists in the history of comics. When the seven artists left Marvel in 1992 to form Image Comics, Jim Lee was easily the best artist out of the entire bunch. I can't remember who said it but I think it was Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld or Marc Silvestri who even admitted as much in an interview.
@objectiveasylum7 жыл бұрын
when Jim says he's afraid to wake up and think he's forgotten how to draw because he/you don't know why or how you can draw better than the next guy that is the perfect reflection of my fears. I thought for the longest time it was just me but to hear one of my comic idols say the same thing is refreshing and reassuring

It’s sickening that you’re saying all of this ridiculous nonsense here because absolutely NOTHING you’ve said here makes any sense at all. Just step down. It's interesting how Stan Lee totally respects and admires Jim Lee's skills and knowledge in this video, but when he does the same series with Rob Liefeld and Todd McFarlane, he totally trolls them the whole time and obviously has no respect for them.
@mupdegraph3 жыл бұрын
This VHS tape was made in 1992. Rob's and Todd's VHS tapes were made around 1991. Pre-image to early image time. According to SyFy's documentary on Image Comics, Rob and Todd were the rebels and the troublemakers whereas Jim was a saint. I imagine this may be the reason why Stan treats them a bit differently.
