I understand what you’re saying but I don’t totally agree. This is somewhat similar to other situations that happened when I was a kid. Freddy Adu and Chamique Holdsclaw. I can still remember the excitement around Holdsclaw as many were saying she was the Jordan of women’s basketball. She brought eyes to the screen. People were interested. It’s hard to grow a game when you don’t have anyone that people know or have an interest in. There are several other fabulous WNBA players but they simply aren’t Clark. I guess I could sort of liken it to Alex Ovechkin. I’m not a big hockey fan however my wife is. I can’t sit through a game of teams or players that I don’t know and be engaged. However, I could sit and watch Ovi play all day long. Think about how many eyes Tiger Woods brought to golf and all the kids suddenly showing an interest and the popularity soaring. I do hope this helps grow the game however.
