How Brett didn’t just punch someone is a true testament to how much he genuinely wanted a real conversation
@CraigCastanet
@CraigCastanet Жыл бұрын
I love Brett, but I think he is naive. He calls himself Progressive, and the problem with that is that, ultimately, the ideology asserts that private property is invalid, and a man's property, the tangibles of his life, may be confiscated for the greater good. He should know this if he would look critically at Progressivism. Under no circumstance can you embolden others to assert rights to your property and life, and then expect to rebuke them when they come for you. He validates ideas like systemic racism, and then rejects the natural and righteous response to systemic racism, i.e. a revolt and upheaval against the system.
@canonicaltom
@canonicaltom Жыл бұрын
@@CraigCastanet Progressivism definitely doesn't even suggest that personal property is invalid. Even communism never did that. If you want to look at a system that confiscates property for the 'greater good', just look at the current system in the US, which is not progressive in any way.
@IsmailofeRegime
@IsmailofeRegime Жыл бұрын
@@CraigCastanet Can you name a notable self-styled "progressive" who held that "private property is invalid"? Back in 1943 Anna Rochester, a Marxist author, critiqued Henry Wallace (who famously ran as the Progressive Party's Presidential candidate in 1948) by writing, "He fights against monopoly, but at the same time he opposes socialism as the enemy of free enterprise. He is nostalgic for the kind of freedom which flourished in the earlier stages of capitalist development. . . But rooted in this type of free competition, and growing out of it as inevitably as night follows day, have been the vast units of industrial production and the aggregation of private capital. . . Looking backward and trying to restore the past is futile, if not positively harmful to human progress." As for confiscation of property "for the greater good," the concept of eminent domain, for instance, wasn't invented by "progressives."

Human beings shouldn't be allowed to live, only the smurfs. When I began to be woke a few years ago, I discovered my true nature, I then realize that I had been a smurf in a past life, and now, I'm fighting against humankind that doesn't deserve to exist. Only smurfs should exist on planet earth, along with all the animals, as superior species over humans . Don't forget that if you ever kill a fly or any bug, it is a genocide, because they have been carrying smurf's souls for thousands of years. Insects should be given the same rights as the smurfs. No more humans.

Evergreen was the perfect storm. Combine the fact that it has a near-universal acceptance rate (97%), thus isn't exactly filled with the academic elite, with its teaching style, which lets ideologically motivated faculty (Lowe) create an echo chamber for a full year, and you get the perfect conditions for a campus uprising. This was enabled by the fact that the administration was either cowed by the protesters, or actively using them for their own ends, and refused to impose order on them when they started attacking people. Honestly, at this point, the university is almost certainly doomed because it has been judged inadequate in the eyes of public opinion and no amount of rebranding will unring that bell.

Evergreen is an example of squandered potential. It raises the question: why should you be given the right to educate when you can't take responsibility for yourselves? The result: the few with the necessary skills, wisdom experience and courage are the ones who are ostracised, exiled and harassed. On the positive side this seems to me to be a genuinely impressive piece of reporting.

Is this the inevitable result of raising a generation of kids with no experience of anything other than being indulged, and pandered to almost to the point of deification? Clearly there is no conception at all that a university might be a place where there's a potential to learn from people who might know more than oneself. Instead the expectation seems to be that the university is, after the family home, the next place to make demands, be cossetted, be obeyed, be served .. (and also to pick up a specific token for the next level of entitlement.)

Don’t make this an age or generation thing when it’s mostly older men identifying as women and wanting everyone to pander to their every need and desire

It was the auto response, but she realized what they were doing was actually exclusive.. luckily she eventually figured out the nice way to say it. Dodged a bullet there.

Her response was telling because of how she went on to reframe it as 'more centered around people of color'. The Left uses language as a weapon, and their terminology is almost always dishonest and conceals their true intention. "Inclusive" means requiring total conformity. "Diverse" means nonwhite. These language tricks are being used to attack White Western European society. All of this is an attack on the foundations of the West. They hate our country and want to destroy it, see what's been happening with US monuments as an example.

I appreciated my time there. I was taught to think deeper than a surface level evaluation on any topic. I have so much love for particular faculty who taught me so much. It sucks that sjw took over the complete mindset and wiped out all the accomplishments which set the schools image back. 😞

I graduated highschool in 1991 in Boise, and evergreen was seen as the place where the smart hippie kids went to smoke weed, then maybe riot grrrls during the grunge years. "History could pivot in this hallway" Mizzou, this, Oberlin loosing to bakery lawsuits. Average tax payer - parent done with this. Hours of video for conservatives - Libertarians - Republicans to point to. Yep kinda did.

As hippy-ish and goofy as the premise behind the founding of Evergreen was, I have met people who had really good experiences there, who believed this was a successful experiment in education, and credit it with giving them an excellent education. What happened last year and what is documented in this series, is a tragedy. I hope it survives this onslaught and this current set of administrators.
