I got me one of them. And wouldn’t swap it for anything. Not even a plastic new one. Awesome tool. 💪

Sorry meant to mention. Front tyres at 28psi. Rear tyres at 38psi regardless of tyre type for the road.

You don’t need spacers. The air sus has a ride height setting you can’t set. At full ride height when traversing awkward territory, if the air sus detects the chassis is grounding, the height is raised another two inches automatically and then drops again if no further groundings of the chassis is detected. Although I suspect you already know that.

@@Keithy_W you mentioned in your video that you often take it through deep water. I've read many reports about the BECM getting wet when you go through water - what have you done to prevent this?
@Keithy_W2 жыл бұрын
Good question mate! I wish I could post a photo on this conversation! I soaked my BECM this time last year. I’ve done absolutely nothing to prevent it getting wet, and as you see, my P38 operates and drives 100% as it should. After I got out of the water crossing (recovery), I drove 100km, removed the BECM and cleaned and re-fitted it with all systems unharmed.

@@Keithy_W obviously they are more robust than what many say. 🙄 I guess the moral of the story is if you keep on top to the maintenance, they are as reliable as the next. I've only owned mine for 18 months and have been going on a few club trips as I learn what it's capable of. Thank you for your guidance
@Keithy_W2 жыл бұрын
You’re not wrong mate. They are robust. Never have I been towed anywhere in a P38 in the near-20yrs I’ve been driving them. I believe a lot comes down to maintaining them well, and listening to its quirks. I’ve towed many Toyota’s and Nissan’s in my time. A good battery, good fuel and regular maintenance. Perfect 👌🏼 That’s good to hear mate. You’ll enjoy it! Comfortable and capable motoring. So long as you listen to it, you’ll keep a reliable P38.

Hi Keithy, love your set up. Do you have any photos on the rear wheel carrier installation?

Thanks mate 👍🏻 I don’t have any pics of the install sorry! It’s been about 10 years since I even had a look at the carrier internally!

Love it, have a look at truck Donaldson air cleaners, they have a drain rubber that allowsvwater to self drain but won't allow water in(self opening and closing)
@Keithy_W2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I’ll check that out for sure! Do you have any links?

If you search Donaldson air cleaners you'll see them on the bottom of the housing, they go from round to flat, ill see if mine in the shed still has 1 that i can upload a pic for you tomorrow

On my 99 that plastic T on the top inlet to the radiator broke causing me to loose most of my coolant. I would be worried about weakening it by adding that temperature sensor. Plan to make a metal version one of these days.

It sounds like P38 RR is quite reliable truck...? I want one for daily !
@Keithy_W2 жыл бұрын
They’re reasonably reliable 4wds! It’s handy to know how they operate before buying, they’re not everyone’s cup of tea 😁
@patrickjohnston57057 ай бұрын
Was your air sus system bypass a kit or a homemade thing? (If so where did you get it). Got a p38 myself and the air suspension is the only thing I don’t fully trust😂
@Keithy_W7 ай бұрын
Completely home made mate. I wrote the design on three sheets of A4 paper, got it lazer cut, welded together and then went about installing. It was first installed in my old blue P38 in 2011, which I retuned to standard when I sold it, and then put the lift into this current P38 in 2015. It may take time, but it pays to learn how the EAS works. It’ll help you diagnose when needed. Keeping an eye on things allows you to catch things before they become an issue. They’re reliable, but they do require maintenance.

Hey mate, love the truck! Have you done anything to protect the BECM under the driver's seat from water?

Thanks Ben! Appreciate it 👍🏻 I have done nothing to the BECM, it sits there and has accepted its share of water over the years!

My pleasure mate 👍🏻 I could knock up a video on roof racks and bars if you’d like. There are so many out there, it’s easy to get lost between them! Do you have any roof rails on the roof at the moment?
@konstantinevacheishvili1362 Жыл бұрын
@@Keithy_W Yeah that would be great, thanks. That's right I'm kinda lost. I need something heavy duty. Don't have no bars no brackets, and I think about making DIY brackets, but no info yet.

Hey mate looking at getting a rangie myself where'd you get your locker from?
@Keithy_W2 жыл бұрын
G’day mate, mine is an Ashcroft locker, and I have it in the rear axle. I got it direct from Ashcroft in the UK. Sent here (including freight) it was cheaper than an ARB locker, and the Ashcroft also engages more securely than an ARB too. They also don’t get air leaks. Cheers Keithy
