Gold is also one of five metals on the periodic table of elements considered permanent since it does not vaporize, it does not dissolve in water, it does not rust, it does not spontaneously combust, and it is not radioactive. It became the perfect money, as did silver. Everything else is just credit. The dollar, the pound, then yen; just credit. Currency. Not money

This documentary on gold has a huge gap which is the story of India in gold, even today the highest amount of privately held gold is with Indian women. Gold is embedded with Hindu customs and culture. India has a history of more than 5000yrs and gold can be traced all the way back, with many gods representing the gold and wealth, both male and female gods.

I hear you, but the documentary is more about gold as money and wealth as opposed to cultural relationships to gold that are non-monetary. Not saying it shouldn't be covered, but it's probably more a topic related to Indian culture specifically than the overall topic of using gold as money.

An interesting documentary to listen to as a goldsmith. When you use it as a material for your art you certainly feel as if you could never have too much of it: it's incredibly frustrating when a design can't be made because you haven't enough gold to spare or because it would cost too much to be likely to sell without some fashionable label appended to it.

History is too often taught with an Agenda. I noticed you left out the Depression of 1920-1921. How the Government solved it with deep spending cuts. Because of your neglect, you would not / could not contrast that with the Great Depression. Not how the Great Depression was greatly extended because of the Government's exact opposite approach (increasing spending rather than cutting spending). Nor did you mention that the POTUS changed the exchange rate (after making gold illegal) which inflated the currency effectively stealing money. Nor did you say anything about how the US Constitution states that Gold and Silver are money (see ArtI.S10.C1.3 Legal Tender). The question is, are you intentional or neglectful?

IT'S NOT USELESS!!!!!!!! And if gold wasn't rare, it would still have many uses therefore it wouldn't be worthless! It's thermal and electrical conductivity alone would mean almost everything we use today would be more efficient.

2:17:24 In a fiat paradigm, the price of everything rises. It's a natural side effect of telling ANYBODY (rulers and enforcers) that they have rights and powers that none of us have. You cannot tell a man he can fly, and also be able to bridle that imagination.

2:13:54 You need to define your terms. "Inflation" refers to an increase in the money supply. Something that cannot happen on a gold standard. But does when a government thinks it can control that which deserves to be free. "Prosperity led to inflation" is one of the most patently false claims I've ever heard.

AI overlords now aswell as the future singularity is also in great need of nothing other than all of the/your gold!!! Our circuit boards should be massive and full of golden layered components. Even when the Robot wears gold like jewelry its not a external piece. We integrate it into the metal/gold plated exteriour of the delicate hardware interiour.

I think the word "empire" has been seriously depreciated. Lydia or Phrygia were tiny little kingdoms. I doubt they even had governors under the king. They did not have multiple ethicities, religions, cultures under their rule either. Why do you keep calling them Empires? The only Empire of the time was Achaemenid Empire which span from Afghanistan to Greece, Egypt to Caucasus and had multiple ethnicities, cultures and religions under the Shah. It was organized as an Empire with multiple Satraps ruling as governors of Egypt, Anatolia, Mesopotamia, etc...

First Globe of the Earth ever produced 1492. Although the circumference and sphericity of the Earth is claimed to have been known since ancient times(Eratosthenes), somehow, even with a Globe model, Columbus somehow believe he is in India when landing in the Caribbean. This is nearly 10,000 miles from where he thought he was on the "Globe". These navigational facts about the Columbus voyages, prove it to be misinformation working for the Pope, the Catholic Church, and the King of Spain, leading up to the line of Demarcation which literally gave the Pope and the European empires control of the entire Earth by political/religious decree. Sorry, but nearly everything about the Columbus story is easily proved false!

It's now been shown that the Phoenicians and Vikings visited America way before Columbus, in fact it's pretty much a given that the Columbus story as told to us in school is patently false, he was after slaves and he r🦍ed and pillaged his way across the Caribbean and Bahamas right on into America
