I agree. Her maids are terrible. You would think that her nanny would care enough about her to tell her the truth. Instead she's lying to her and blaming others for the way he treats her. He told her from the beginning that he will provide her with a comfortable life/nothing else. He has shown her through his actions that he doesn't care about her but when you have toxic people in your ear feeding you lies it makes it harder to accept the truth.

I love seeing her in this, she was one of my favorites in Ruyi!! She’s really got some acting chops!

The GM is the only one that buys her act. Lingyi knows exactly the kind of woman she is..so he isn't fooled by her act. Her maids don't do her any favors by feeding her delusions/condoning her actions. He's a great judge of character unlike his mother. He warned her to act right/to stay in her lane. Unfortunately that went in one ear and out the other.

@@Kat19760 they were scared that she would sell them if they told her the truth. They knew she couldn't handle the truth because she was obsessed with him. She's been obsessed with him...since she was a little girl. This obsession took a dark turn...and they knew it. They fed her delusions by insisting Shiyi was the problem...and if she wasn't around...that Lingyi would love her. These women knew she was a danger to herself...and others but they continued to follow her lead....in the end they all suffered because of it.

The grandma is blind and need to stop interfering with her kids life and enjoy being a grandma

@@sphan16 she needs to stay away from her grandkids...she's to focused on status...and she will ruin the bond they have by forcing the to adhere to the rules regarding legitimate and illegitimate children. She needs to be put in a hole somewhere...that way she won't cause any problems for her family.

He told her on the day she became a concubine that he had nothing to offer her but a safe home. They all tried to force him to accept her...including his idiot mother... she even plotted to get him to spend time with her/told him to take care of her. He told his mother that he didn't want to ruin her life by marrying her...but she insisted and now she's trying to force it. You're right you can't force somebody to love you. Unfortunately Lianfang believes that she can win his heart....unlike his mother...he sees right through her.

Shiyi beauty. Don't make unnecessary assumptions and you stand a chance of getting a warmer welcome. He had once again forgotten that Shiyi was not afraid to speak her mind and defend herself. She does not care about his status, she may well live on her own without anyone's support. He confused her with other women in his family. Payback was inevitable...

Yes, he was expecting her reaction. He used the whole brocade fabric as a pretense because he wanted to see her... but he stuck his foot in his mouth...and left in a fit of anger. She schooled him...lol

She had shame? She is so pathetic. No matter how many times he puts her down she never learns. She is obsessed and deluded. Worse is the nanny, servant and her mother keep re-enforcing her. The Old Madam too. A part of me feels sorry for her but then I don’t as she knows right from wrong but still keeps choosing incorrectly.

She earned that embarrassment...she thought the right clothes were going to change his opinion of her...she was WRONG. He knows her...and he knows what type of person she is...no matter how she tries to dress herself up. He sees right through her.

It wasn't about the fabric....it was about putting Shiyi in her place. The GM gave the power and authority to manage the household affairs to Lianfang....this is the right given to the legal wife...by giving it to Lianfang she was telling the entire household that Lianfang was favored....this one act of defiance by the GM caused major problem...because the entire household showed total disregard for Shiyi's position as the legal wife. It also doesn't help that every time Lianfang makes a mistake the GM is always there to defend her. You're right Shiyi would've gladly given the fabric to her....unfortunately Lianfang was too busy trying to step into Shiyi's shoes by taking away what was rightfully hers. It doesn't help that her attendance continuously egged her own....by making her believe that Shiyi stole her position....and if it wasn't for her....Lingyi would be able to express his feelings to her. I'm sure the GM was told how Lingyi reacted to Lianfang stealing what belongs to Shiyi. The GM knew that Lingyi was right about the fabric therefore she couldn't interfere with his decision regarding Lianfang.

Lianfang loves peonies, not because she likes its and is beautiful, but because peonies are a symbol of power and lover. She can no longer wear this dress, Lingyi made it clear to her that she has no right to do so. This is in the eyes of the GM - she is a favorite and should have rights and status, and for Lingyi she is an imposed by others, unloved concubine (what peonies can be).

Oh, it's called the force of habit. He's so used to everyone fighting for his attention and outward trappings of power, and he forgets that Shiyi is different. She has already shown several times that she does not need his location and power in the family, but he cannot get rid of the experience gained over the years. A lost argument and a spoiled mood are his payment for forgetfulness. Shiyi is not going to forgive unfairly treat to herself.

He was honest with her from the beginning and that's why I never once felt sorry for her. The great madame and her maids often feed her delusions. It's the very reason why she ended up in this state.

The GM was fooled by her for so many years that it never occurred to her that Lianfang had evil intentions. Even after she deliberately made her grandson sick she still protected her. The writing was on the wall but she insisted that Lianfang was innocent/she didn't do it on purpose. Lingyi saw through her act especially after Shiyi was kidnapped. She had a very dark heart.

Well the GM sees Lianfang as the legal wife which is the reason why she gave her the power/authority of the legal wife. Since the fabric is meant for the legal wife the GM doesn't see anything wrong with it/she thinks it suits her. She couldn't be more wrong/Lingyi let her know exactly that....lol

She doesn't know or understand the word "No". Her wishes were ALWAYS fulfilled in one way or another. In addition, the GM has clearly demonstrated more than once that HIS wishes are not taken into account. His mother WANTS him to love her, so sooner or later it must happen. In addition, with other people, her strategies always worked. She does not understand that for him Loving means first of all Respecting you as a Person. And she did nothing to make him respect her, rather the opposite. But Shiyi, whom she openly despises, ALWAYS defends her Self. Shiyi is standing aside, but She actually won the war started by Lianfang.

The nanny is looking at Lianfang's status which makes her believe that she should've been the legal wife instead of an illegitimate daughter. She wants her to fight for a position that NEVER belonged to her. The problem was created by the GM when she gave her the power/authority of the legal wife. Because she's the matriarch of the family they believe that Lingyi will obediently follow her wishes. Once she put Lianfang in charge of managing the household/treating her as the legal wife it corrupted Lianfang/her entire staff. The GM was treating Shiyi like a concubine instead of the legal wife so now the nanny believes that Shiyi stole her position/she's encouraging her to fight. Her entire inner circle is a detriment to her.
