It really is those little details that really bring a layout to life. Love the hole!!! Thats is such a next idea. You might not have seen it on anyone else's layout, but I imagine you might see it on future ones! Great video as always. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy and thanks for the kind comment, I know that several folk who have seen that hole in ground have said that they now want to do something similar on their layout which is great news, I certainly don’t have a problem with that and in fact feel quite flattered to think that someone wants to have it on their layout. As I said in the video, I’m sure somebody somewhere has most likely done this before although I must admit, I haven’t seen it myself. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham

Thanks Rob and exactly my thoughts too. I haven’t anywhere else on the layout to do this and this is a good a place as any to do just that and have a bit of fun time rather than just seeing trains going round and round. Plus of course it adds a bit of realism and fun to the layout at the same time. 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham

I don't think we mind being on the tripod Graham! It's a bit of a balancing act though. I have to have a word with you about your yard ballasting - it's too neat and you're showing the rest of us up!!! The man in a hole is a great idea and I'll definitely be borrowing it. And coins make excellent circles (you know what I mean) - I've used random foreign coins on different projects. Cheers.

Hi Davie and thanks for the comment mate, much appreciated too. I like the man in the hole, I think it just adds a little bit of fun to what could be just another yard scene. Yes, as I said in the video, the ballast is a little too neat at the moment but hopefully I can make it a little more scruffy as I go on but you have to start somewhere I guess! 😉👍🏻. Wow Graham, the yard is looking fabulous, great job. You should not make apologies for the time taken, we married men have MANY domestic obligation and must consider our significant other, A happy wife makes a happy life. Also nothing wrong with the phrase "Take you off the tripod" if we are indeed viewing from that position, infact I think it makes the experience more personal, "Take You" as apposed to "Take the Camera". Great upate as usual Graham. Thank You.

Hi Graham, The heritage yard is coming along nicely. My grandson is impressed with it. My grandson says you could put something over part of the cable to represent the rubber covering they use to prevent anyone tripping over it.We are looking forward to the next update ...Cheers James 🙂👍
@GrahamFoulston
@GrahamFoulston 4 ай бұрын
Hi James and thank you. Yes I could easily make up something to cover the cable and I did think about doing that but to be honest, I like to see the cable unprotected as it ( in my opinion) makes the Orange cable look more like a power cable and as said in the video, with two people by the cable to help it and not too many people about working in the yard this day (and the men in the yard know that this work is being carried out) then I decided to leave the cover off. Had this been open to the public then yes, I would have put a cover over it. Cheers. …………Graham

Hi Greg and thanks for the comment and yes, as I said in the video once I have completed the yard I will go back and put the ‘grimy’ details in like oil stains, water puddles, a collection of spare loco wheels, old rails etc, etc. This is the way I tend to work - make it new to begin with then go back and make it more ‘lived in’ - just like in real life really. Everything starts off new but with age it gradually starts to look used and lived in. So please bare with me on this because it will eventually become more realistic. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham

Hi Graham, you're making me envious! Great job on the yard. Did you consider my idea from a couple of videos ago about an "invisible" tunnel from the station platform stairway to the yard for the workers, with a stairway coming up to the yard? I realise you might not have enough room to do it, but I thought something like that could add to the realism. all the best to Hazel for her birthday.
