This episode is adventure time boiled down to its core essence. It's just the viewer and our favorite characters going through grievances with each other, yet coming out of the other side on an optimistic note, paired with some of the best music in the entire series.

I really really like “What Am I to You” personally. I like his admission that he knows he isn’t on equal grounds with all of his friends. He knows he’s looked down on and he knows he can’t fix that, so he chooses to accept it and just enjoy being with people who like to hang out with him, and cherish what he has. He’s focused very hard on opening the door for most of the episode, but when all of the gang starts to walk away, he changes his tune to just wanting to hang out with them- in other words, he realized “what was missing”. Also I really liked hearing Finn sing in a real way, the emotion added upon hearing Finn get real PLUS that killer ending slide note really elevates that song for me. I get chills every time he sings that last line lol.

For all that the whole "power of friendship" trope has been done to death over the years, it says a lot about AT that it can make it feel fresh again, in this episode and as a series overall. The more I rewatch AT, the more I see Finn being a good friend as the core of his heroic nature, and he changes the course of future AT events by telling his friends how much he likes them and likes hanging out. He's the glue of Ooo.

Oh man. This is I think my favorite episode of Adventure Time, especially since this is THE episode that got me into Adventure Time in the first place. Finn genuinely wanted to hang out with his friends, and even though his pining for PB during this time kept him from initially revealing his precious keepsake, it was still nice that at the end of the day, he was willing to reveal it because he just wants to play together with his closest friends. The whole tension between Marceline and PB was great, and the fact that this would be the start of the reconciliation arc between PB and Marcy, as well as the start of some inportant character development for PB, definitely makes it a must watch in general. The pay off of this relationship at both the end of the series in Come Along With Me and the Obsidian episode in Distant Lands makes me look back at this episode fondly. Thanks for covering this!

One of the reasons I never really think of this episode as much as the other emotionally mature episodes of adventure time is because of how early in the series it came out. It kinda goes over my head whenever I’m rewatching the show because I guess I watch it from Finns perspective as a 13 year old who doesn’t understand what’s going on. One of the best aspects of the show is how the audience can grow and mature along with Finn, but I love how the writers still made meaningful and insightful episodes that can be rewatched and appreciated once the audience has finally matured.

When I was younger, Finn’s song about just wanting to hang out with his friends pissed me off because the WHOLE TIME they’re in front of the door he’s like “guys we almost got the door open!” I still thought the song was a banger tho

Being as straight up as possible This episode is the Magnum Opus of Adventure Time. It may not be the first, or the most popular, or the best. But it is the most IMPORTANT one, and the moment where the show said: "Oh yeah, we're built different."

In retrospective, this episode it's basically two people trying to boy/girlfriend with PB, but one of them denies it and the other one admits it just to end up being friendzoned. The thing it's you must to try to be the most sincere with yourself instead of hiding the things up just like Marceline did. Also, this could be off topic, but I'm just amazed about how PB was so desired in the series early going. I mean Ice King, Finn and obviously Marceline too wanted her, and even we had an entire episode of magicians killing each other to get a kiss from her.
