This woman should have won an Academy Award. Can't believe she wasn't even nominated.

I wish they would have talked about this so I don’t feel like I’m crazy, but I’m 99% sure that while Edith’s clothes were modern for the time period (looks to be taking place in the 1890s), Lucille’s dresses were at least two decades earlier from the 1870s. Notice the tight, normal sleeves as opposed to Edith’s mutton sleeves and the soft bustles on Lucille’s dresses. I also wondered if Lucille’s blue dress is hinting at the story of Bluebeard, which Crimson Peak seems to be partially based on. Like in the movie you think Thomas is going to be the Bluebeard character but her dress is foreshadowing that she was Bluebeard all along.

Phillip P it's supposed to be like that! Lucille's clothes are supposed to be older to emphasize how poor the Sharpe's are and how they can not afford to buy new clothing. I think they're also like that to show how Lucille doesn't move forward but rather stay in the same mindset.

Meaning Lucille was wearing her mothers clothing, and Thomas his father's. They had nothing else, sadly. My favourite piece of costume were the sunglasses actually.

Yes!! I noticed this too, Lucille is so classically 1870s/80s, and Edith mentions Thomas' suit is at least a decade old. Lucille is the past, Edith the future and Thomas is caught in the middle

"From now on, I want this house to contain nothing but friendship, and love, and warmth." Yep, that's what happened.

This may be dumb to say but I noticed that once they all arrived at crimson peak, they all wore the same outfits and never changed (unless to their nightgowns which also remained the same throughout) is there symbolism through that?

I think this is to reflect the era. It was quite common to own only a few different dresses and wear the same ones several days in a row. Edith probably didn't bring all of her clothes to England, she might had even sold some of them as she wanted to provide as much fortune for Thomas as she could (or t least that was the feeling I had from the book). It also might be a symbol of them being stucked in the house and the fact that the part when they're in England might acually be a short amount of time. :)

I'm struggling so hard to find out what those little white flowers with the pink centre are made from. It looks too thick to be fabric, is it plastic?....Fondant? LMAO! Ugh..

Gothic romance? I didn't really catch the romance movie aspect in this one. Horror themes were way more prominent than romance themes.

am I only one who did not like the film.. well in away, the costumes were beautiful and perfect.. I love the set and actors.. but it was the story line I didn't like it was rushed, it just made me sad that it was so amazing in many ways but then let down

I'll admit it was VERY derivative to the point that it kind of copied dialogue from jane eyre word for word, but i thought it was just a straightforward gothic romance. It was solid to me.
