Only one was ever lost in combat. That's an unmatched combat record.

That's currently as good a record as the Challenger 2 as only one has been lost to enemy action and that was in Ukraine. More importantly the crew got away.
@chaptermasterpedrokantor16238 ай бұрын
@@fus149hammer5 That we know of. More might have been lost, that we don't know and probably more will be lost for certain as the Ukrainians are throwing them into battle like General Mechett. I'm sure one of them will end up in Kubinka. Just like they already have a few Leo 2's now.

Polish armoured train in the UK. Now that sounds wild.
@RealUlrichLeland8 ай бұрын
There were 13 armoured trains built in Britain in case of a German invasion, and one of them was the world's only miniature railway armoured train. Because of its proximity to Europe, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in Kent was given an armoured train, but the line only had a miniature 15 inch railway gauge so they remodelled one of the miniature railway's Hercules locomotives into a mini armoured train. It had two anti tank rifles and four Lewis guns and managed to shoot down a Messerschmidt 109. After the war they took off the guns and armour plating, gave it a new paint job and returned it to use on the model railway, where it remains in use to this day.
@PeetHobby8 ай бұрын
The Free Polish Army was essentially a British army/militia; they were trained and equipped by the British and they were based in the UK. After the war, they remained in Western Europe because Stalin refused to allow these heroes to return home. 😢

Very good looking tank, low to the ground sloped armour, looks like a t34 ish
@the_tactician98586 ай бұрын
Pretty sure armor sloping was a thing already done on some interwar tanks. It has drawbacks too, as it decreases space for the crew, especially the driver, which often ends up performing less good because of it. Regardless, given the tank has their radiators on the front of the tank, I highly doubt the tank was designed to shrug off anti-tank rounds with sloped armor. More likely the designers wanted to keep the tank as light as possible by decreasing the amount of steel necessary, which is also why they couldn't be bothered to increase the hull size to fit the radiators better. But I agree 100% that this tank looks amazing... like a '60's Porsche with a gun stuck to it.

The TOG would have been an amazing tank if World War 2 had become the same trench warfare that World War 1 was... honestly, there was one more tank that was even worse than the TOG, and that was the Valiant. Think of the pike nose of the IS-3, except stumped like a bulldog's nose, with a terrible engine and an even worse transmission, that was a Frankenstein's monster of different construction companies' ideas of how the design should look like.
