@Universal Kombat They can go off with just a tap of the palm actually. It's just that dangerous to load 6 bullets in a 6 shooter. Some would half spin the cylinder and rest the hammer in-between the bullets to avoid a accidental discharge, there are also holsters that provide a thin strap leather that would be placed where the hammer usually rest.

Very intersting way for a safety use of a Frontier,, I own one, 45 LC caliber, and got used to do this way at the shooting range. Still alive and no hurt !

Wish the Peacemakers and other revolvers of the time that used self containing cartilages had a safety similar to the older cap and ball style revolvers, where you can rest the hammer in between the chambers in a groove like with the 1858 New Army Remington, that used a cut out in between the nipples to rest the hammer. The colts used a pin on the cylinder with a cut out in the hammer, however the pin could break, and it wasn't the best method compared to the Remington models. But I do understand due to the cartilage size and such that it would require a bigger cylinder to make enough room for it.

No, those typically have either a hammer block or transfer bar, so you can load all six without this risk. Thanks for watching!

Hello from Russia and thx for ur vid :D although I've already seen this way of loading, it still was nice to see the actual test as well and of course another exemplar of an old good classical revolver! Dunno why, but I have a predilection for the conversion models, like colt navy, anyone with same "fetishes" here??

okayyyy but it's fine to load six on the range when people load and fire immediately without holstering. And no one carries a single action for pp/sd

@@AtrociousAK47 I haven't seen them compete yet with any single action pistol without at least a transfer bar or other drop safe mechanism let alone a real cap and ball style firearm and I've most of their shoots

Pharmdkeith I carry a 45 Colt single action revolver for self defense sometimes. Sometimes a 1911 .45 ACP, sometimes a .357 Magnum revolver. Depends on my mood. I can operate them all well on the move against multiple threats just fine. I always carry plenty of spare Ammo too.

I’ve got a ruger .357 magnum used for speed shooting. My grandpa got it because a guy shot his leg cause the hair trigger was bumped by his finger too early. He gave the gun away and stopped speed shooting. Very cool gun and extremely light trigger.

Load one skip one, load four, hammer all the way back and lowered onto the empty chamber. Easy. Must do this with unconverted "old style" Ruger single actions too. Have been doing it for many, many moons..
