More than that, they were supposed to be stars in the show but the producers already had Shirley Jones as the Mom and The Cowsills didn't want to be in the show with their Mom being replaced, so they lost the show.

there were several small groups or bands that formed in the late 1960s that gave us many like this by the Cowsills. It's been awhile so I will have to look them up to recall their names and songs.

Nice reaction! This is all the Cowsills. Except for Bill and the mother. John the drummer plays for the Beach Boys. Barry the bass player was killed during hurricane Katrina which struck New Orleans. Bill and the mother are no longer with us, passed away a while back. On stage here is, Susan, Bob, Paul, Barry, John and one of the other brothers in the back who wasn't really in the original band, name is Richard (Dick). I could listen to this song ten times a day just love it that much.

The Cowsills were a family (6 siblings & mother) that performed together in the later 60's-70's. Their most famous hits were The Rain, The Park & Other Things", "Indian Lake" & "Hair". The group inspired the 1970's television show "The Partridge Family".

the COWSILLS have been the main act along with mark volman of the TURTLES in the HAPPY TOGETHER TOUR for at least the last 15 years and they still sound great. every year they add a few different bands to the tour such as JAY AND THE AMERICANS , THE ASSOCIATION , THE VOGUES , MARK LINDSAY from PAUL REVERE AND THE RAIDERS , CHUCK NEGRON from 3 DOG NIGHT and many more. i have seen this tour 5 or 6 times in the last 10 or so years and it's a blast every time as it changes every year except for the 2 main bands. the night typically last about 3 hours and the tour is still all over the usa this year. well worth going to see

In the early 70's I used to work for the Cowsills. In Hollywood, they would give me a box of flyers and some glue. I would go around Hollywood blvd and glue them up on lamp poles,or anywhere I could. It was a lot of fun and they were so nice. At the end of my day,I'd go back tp their warehouse studio and the mother(cant remember her name)would feed me dinner. lol

I recall reading that the network originally wanted the Cowsills to play in the series The Partridge Family - however, they believed they'd make more money touring. Among their other hits were "Indian Lake" (1968) & "Hair" (1969). Rest in peace Barry.

This was my re-introduction to The Cowsills a few years back after losing track of them after late 1960's! I was shocked that their musicianship was so good after all the years that had gone by!

This is the Cowsill siblings from some years back but they had lost two brothers by this time I believe. As kids in late sixties they were having success and in the public eye but home life was an abusive father.

Yes, Barry died during Katrina in 2005 and Billy, the oldest died a year later. The dad kicked Billy out of the band and the family after he was caught smoking pot. He ended up in the rock scene in Toronto.

They were all still alive when this was done, as Barry is performing. This was the 2004 benefit for Bill Cowsill which I think was done to help with his medical bills.

Songs like "Crystal Blue Persuasion" by Tommy James, or "Light and Day" by Polyphonic Spree. "Revival" by Allman Brothers is another good pick-me-up. And of course, Yes and Moody Blues. Hope this song brings happiness to all who listen. Peace on earth.

I have always loved The Cowsills, especially this song from my childhood. Today the type of music they tend to perform, (especially Susan and John), leans toward Country. John, the youngest of the boys, (drummer) has been married to Vicki Peterson from The Bangles. John Cowsill does a beautiful rendition of Roy Orbison's song "Crying". Loved your reaction!! ❤❤

Barry, John, Paul, Bill Bob & Dick, although Dick wasn't in the band cause there Dad wouldn't let him, Susan and their mom who also sang. Susan did the first song I ever heard about being bullied, Heather Says. Barry died in Hurricane Katrina and he and I were the same age. He was born in Sept. I was born in April. I just turned 70 and he passed at 50. Bill was sick with a bunch of things and he passed away in the 0's I think, not exactly sure of the year. Their mom Barbara sang a song made famous by Peter, Paul and Mary which I just found out called The Cruel War and she had a beautiful voice. Their dad was their manager and he was horrible and totally mismanaged their money. When he passed away, none of them went to the funeral. Can you tell I was a HUGE fan? Listen to The Path of Love, a very Christian song and Painting The Day. Their music can make you smile whenever you hear it. Also listen to Newspaper Blanket. That song was about a homeless blind man and considering they were children/teens when most of these songs were written, WOW, this one makes me cry. I love how you are so excited to hear this song and how much you love that song. If you want to know more just ask.

Wow. Way back when this first came out we mostly just dismissed it as bubblegum pop, and then when the Partridge Family was created I guess it just pushed it more into our thinking it was just fluff. Listening to it now I remember it much better, and gee, it's not bad at all. Good musicianship, excellent harmonies. You surprised me with this one, but I'm now very happy to have heard it again. Thanks.

The Cowsills didn't get the respect they deserve because they were considered bubble gum by the hard rock crowd, but they had a couple of the top songs of that era. Very cool if you ask me.

Bob, Susan and Paul still your as the Cowsills and can still sing great in their 60s and 70s. Sadly, Barry (the guy in the hat in this video) died in Hurricane Katrina, as others have mentioned. Shortly thereafter, Bill, the original lead singer, died of natural causes. John, the drummer, was with the Beach Boys for many years and now is working with his wife, Vicki Peterson of the Bangles. John and Vicki are soon to release an album of their versions of songs written by Billy and Barry. Susan also is a member of an outstanding alt-country band called the Continental Drifters.

Hello brother man, I thought I'd leave another suggestion for a new folk artist to give a listen, if interested. "Mary Hopkin - Those Were The Days (On The Ed Sullivan Show)" (by the channel: Ed Sullivan Show) --Mary Hopkin was a folk singer, and this was her biggest commercial hit single. however, she did have other popular hit songs, but this was her biggest. Paul McCartney produced the song, and she recorded it at "Abbey Road Studios" with a full orchestra. It was recorded in 1968 and was from her debut album. I love the merch. brother ordered a shirt for my son. Catch Ya Later...peace out~
