I raced there. Belive me, the deep-holes-and-sneaky-roots carpet hiding under the dust between the trees is just killing. Maybe the hardest part of the race for the arms. Portions from 11:18 to 11:36 and even more from 12:16 to 12:37. Even with the best suspension settings, it's like riding on a jackhammer-bike.

I don't think the mountain bike people know how it is to counter-steer. You can tell who doesn't from around the 2:18 section who crashed into snow.
@CP4884
@CP4884 5 жыл бұрын
@@antdx316 i take it you've been in a similar race on similar terrain on a similar bike and counter-steering. The "mountain bike people" who take on this race, on this terrain, and on these bikes obviously know how to ride a bike better than your average Joe/Tony. It's just that when you're moving 30mph on a decline that would normally probably see skiiers, and doing so on wheels makes the counter-steering less than optimally effective. They know how to ride a bike. That shit just doesn't work when you're going that fast. You just slide, and it takes a long time for you to actually start to turn. You can see that if you watch closely. I know this from riding mountain bikes around on frozen lakes as a kid. You can turn and counter-steer all you want, but it isn't gonna change the direction you're heading. That's how these guys ended up on the side and on their faces. Lastly, in response to your arrogant comment, i would ask you, why respond to someone's comment about a false start with some nonsense about counter-steering on snow? It's irrelevant to the joke of the OP. Make your own comment next time instead of piggybacking on someone else.
@antdx316
@antdx316 5 жыл бұрын
@@CP4884 It's not my fault people are inexperienced. On a motorbike at speeds above 25mph you need to counter-steer but if you are scared to do it for fear of going the wrong way due to inexperience what can you do?
@CP4884
@CP4884 5 жыл бұрын
@@antdx316 It's not inexperience or an inability to counter steer. Obviously you're inexperienced when it comes to flying down the side of a snow covered mountain on a mountain bike. You CAN'T counter-steer is what i'm trying to tell ya. It just doesn't work. You just drift and slide in a straight-ish line. Not to mention your wheels are grabbing at every little divot in the terrain that makes your bike want to careen and send you flying.
@CP4884
@CP4884 5 жыл бұрын
@@antdx316 The problem is that you're trying to compare something that weighs 20lbs and has tires that are 3" wide with something that weighs 600lbs, has tires 8" wide, and is on asphalt...not snow. Grow a brain, lose the arrogance. You couldn't do what these guys are doing. You just don't have the requirements. Those requirements being balls and skill. The "mountain bike people" don't know how to drift? lol. I'd like to see you *TRY*. Please, film it with a Go-Pro. We don't have enough clips on KZfaq of "I Almost F*cking Died".

Isn't it supposed to be quite hard doing that stuff at speed? You see helicopters wiping out while just hovering. I wonder if speed adds inertia and therefore some stability but really it just wants to spin so to hang in a strafe like that tracking riders whilst supposedly having awareness of a million other things is pretty sick surely?

I mean in theory a chopper can fly any which way, just check out RC helicopters. Normally you don't fly that way, since the tail rotor has a much harder job keeping the heli from spinning out. And also, why would you?

Nah, he wasn't fighting for pole position the whole video, he was trying to get around slow fuckers that were wasting him energy because he had to brake and then pedal again which will fatigue your muscles allot quicker instead of using the momentum of gravity and just letting it roll. the one guy wasn't letting him pass or couldn't because it was on twisty turns but after he got past him he was able to manage his energy a bit better for the rest of the track until he came across another road block. In his mind he wasn't fighting for first, just finishing the race, this event looks and sounds exhausting since majority of the time you're trying to keep balance which is were most of your energy is getting burnt. People may think its easy because its downhill but that's not true when the terrain is rocky...it costs more energy to stabilize yourself.
