Finally!!

Hey everyone! Sorry this video took so long. I filmed this one at a very stressful point in my life (one where I gained a lot of weight), so it was difficult going back and editing this. Doing a lot better since then! I’ve actually lost that weight and then some. So it’s about time I tell you this - there’s 1 episode of BGRA left. I’ll explain in an update vid later, but long story short the persona gimmick is much, much harder to create than I originally thought. I originally intended BGRA to be my last series, so be warned this ending is going to be very definitive. I decided to keep it intact because I’m in a strange chapter of my life, and idk where I’m gonna live/work in the next few months. I’m fine but everything is up in the air right now. Whenever I get situated, I’ll reveal the plans for the next series! My guess is a couple of months. It’d be strange starting a new series -about- my game room, and then an episode or two later I live in my parents’ basement or something lmao. Between BGRA and whatever I do next, my plan is to make some unscripted videos. So you’ll still see me around! I think you’ll enjoy the next series as well - it’s very back-to-basics, which hopefully means faster uploads. Thanks for listening and sticking with me!

VIDEO CORRECTIONS (sorry about that!): - In Sonic Runners (the discontinued mobile game), it's explained that Wisps liked Earth so much that they decided to live there after the events of Colors. - Wispons are separate entities from Wisps - they are weapons that use Wisp powers. Wisp capsules are still a thing in this game. - The Hedgehog engine is meant to *complement* new gameplay styles, not handle. This was a really positive look at the game and even 3d Sonic. I agree that the hype can be mad ridiculous sometimes, and certain expectations don't make much sense

Sonic Forces Balrog to come back

I've been binge-watching your videos for the past couple of weeks, and for the umpteenth time, and I have to say that the stuff you've done on KZfaq has been some the best reviews I've seen. BNGR Season 2 and BGR are some of my favorite reviews from online critics, and have been a huge influence on how I critique art. The balance of dissection of game design, introspective thoughts of gaming as a whole and how it affects the way games are made and how we reaction to it, along with goofy jokes about a man struggling in his game room with a Wario and Froakie plushie is so finely tuned. I laugh and think at once. BGRA is also really good and feels like a much more personal look at how you look at gaming and how it affects you, which is what the series is about. Sometimes I think the storyline is a bit hoakey, but there's a whole lot of endearment in your acting that it's compelling to watch. It's crazy to think how BGRA was coming out while I was in the early years of college, and that I've been watching your stuff since I was in early high school. Like I found your Nintendo 101 videos first when I was a freshman or sophomore. Your videos have been an influence on me, and you're one of the guys whose inspired me to make KZfaq videos. From your comment on this video and your posts on Twitter, it seems like you've moved on from video-making as a whole. I don't know what you're up to in the current year of 2021, but I hope that you're doing well and that you're succeeding in the path you've taken. I'd like to think that somewhere down the line (like six or seven years), maybe the urge to review will get you going again. I know you helped Austin Eruption with that Balan video, though I haven't seen it. You definitely left a great legacy on KZfaq. I only hope that people continue to enjoy what you've created, and that you can look back at everything and smile.

I definitely didn't get around to watching this video at...Sonic speed, but I absolutely loved it. It was an amazing take on what was overall a decent game, and it always has that unique Balrog style that I look forward to. Keep up the amazing work, dude!

Who else saw this episode as a sneak peek during a stream? On a more serious note, balrog I think the unscripted videos have definitely helped keep the channel a lot more active and obviously it’s good to see that the next series is in production though despite the foreseeable future being a bit barren for the channel I look forward to any new videos.

Nice nice, I was marathoning your stream archives and then Saw that you uploaded. Good job on the video, hope all is well in your life.

I really enjoyed Forces and 100%ing it, but some of the level designs feel like mechanics were omitted at some point. Mortar Valley in particular feels like it was designed with the player being unable to jump. There are tons of branching paths, but the fastest solution is to jump near the start and boost over almost the entire stage without landing until the end. Like, this same game getting an expansion pack with new, more carefully designed levels and new themes would be lovely!

And for that today, I have a little analogy to give you. These are my shoes. These are the Air Jordans that I got for my birthday back in my sophomore year of high school. And I wore them for about a year and a half since. They fit you well, they pretty much get you anywhere, and

I got this game the day it came out, and my opinions when finishing were that it had a lot of flaws, but I still ended up enjoying it immensely, and replayed it a bunch of times. It was hard, though, to speak out and say I had so much fun with it because of all the chaos and hate that spurred from it being another "disappointment", which admittedly I did partially agree with, but again I still think a lot of ambition went into it, as you put it. While this review did have me going there for a while lol, this is probably the most mature and apt review I've seen of the game so far and it really makes me feel a lot better about it now; this is the kind of honest, looking-back review I was hoping to see once the dust settled of this game. Really good stuff.

A game made for the fans, and a game by the fans came into the public consciousness at roughly the same time. These were forces and mania respectively...

a great review I found that most people (with a few exception like Jirard) didn't give this game enough of a chance it was really great to see you listing all the positive aspects to the game cause it's not like there aren't good Ideas here they just aren't executed well or as Extra Credits would say they are in service to the brand which means you put mechanics in just cause they were in past games not because they need to be there which is never a good idea which is in and of itself a great critique which most people missed so on both fronts you did great on both praising it and critiquing it your reviews are always worth waiting for and I hope your life gets a little more sorted so you can make videos comfortably till then keep on keeping on good sir!

Say what you will about Black Knight but they didnt have to go that hard in terms of PLENTY of fanservice for long time fans, a BITCHIN soundtrack, and come on, Excalibur Sonic looked badass. Plus Jason and everybody else improved so much and its sad that they were replaced right as soon as they were getting into the groove of the characters.

The biggest problem I have with this game were the 2D parts. The 3D sonic and original character levels were pretty fun. And since it wasn't a full price game like almost every games nowadays I wasn't really mad at all
