His grip is slightly outside of his feet. Bigger strenght athlete tend to got a wider feet stance on the deadlift and they have to fit those massive legs between than space, so naturaly the hand have to go wider too. Look at Eddy Hall 463 kg world record

If you take the statistics from IPF, you have something like 80% of the lowest weight classes pulling sumo, and 80% of the highest weight classes pulling conventional. Add the data from all the intermediary weight classes to a diagram, and you get an almost perfectly X-shaped overlap, where -93kg men and -69kg women are about 50/50 sumo/conventional.

It wasn't just sumo, it was sumo out to the plates. Not everyone can deadlift comfortably in a sumo position, that's why the last two shown were conventional. It's not a competition of sumo vs conventional. It's a competition of leverages. There are full power competitions that require a conventional deadlift and strict press. Alan Thrall highlighted one he competed in. As far as powerlifting is concerned, I feel like it's only raw lifters who would complain about the sumo pull in a raw competition. He's not an IPF athlete. These are IPF records. Incidentally the 120kg record should also not be in the video as it was not an IPF meet.

The IPF uses a stiff bar too so it makes it a little more difficult but let’s be real here not everyone competing in drug tested stuff is drug free, people cheat it all the time

true but on the other hand, if being natty was your point of pride, and you could pull 900, your probably going ipf.

Jeffery Lord they have, but not in the IPF. mikhail koklyaev pulled 417.5/920 at 159.1/350.7 bodyweight in the FPR and mark henry pulled 410/904 at 184/405.8 bodyweight in the ADFPA. both tested, both back in 2015.

I think sumo and conventional should be different counted records, a 900lb conventional is way harder than a 900lb sumo
@piter007112 жыл бұрын
that's different story actually, you can see averange height/ deadlift style/ weight category and you can see that in IPF taller people has stronger conventional while shorter in sumo, you can't really say one is harder than another. If it would be case no one would lift conventional

Its harder off the floor and most dudes barely have the hip mobility for it but lockout is hella easy due to decreased rom by 15-25 percent depending on your built

samoot depends on your style too if u pull with a rounded back its harder to lockout cuz ur fingers get in the way by rubbing ur quads, but if ur pulling with a flat back and low hips its easy lockout
