Well I'm now invested in this build. Just going through reels on Instagram and saw the frame jig so I'm now binge watching!!! This should be great!

awesome build just found your channel, I'm planning on almost the same build but on the east coast, I plan on using a C4 front and rear suspension and square body also 85 GMC. I'm no engineer though. Definitely following your build Love to see it

Talented man you are, great series, keep pumping these videos please. Can you sell the files with the design and measurements?

Thank you. A bunch of people have asked this, im not sure yet. I want to get some track time in on this first.

The way I thought about this is akin to crowdfunding, meaning that as more people get involved in the design and fabrication, it likely can be improved, benefiting all of us. It's like crowfunding R&D...@@designbuilddrive

Hey mate, aren’t “fish plates” supposed to have tapered ends so you don’t get weak points from a sharp, flat edge?
@daledavies23346 ай бұрын
Tapered end lets any flex dissipate over a longer area, while a straight end concentrates any flex stresses along the end. Stitch welding the top and bottom but not down the ends may help. Problem.with that is the end stitches get the stress from any flex and may break.

DUUUDE.... You are, without a doubt, a bad-ass Man! I just watched this video, the first of yours, for me, and I have been superbly inspired by your work. Thank you, very much! This way of frame building, is about as fail-proof as one can get, without having an actual machined chassis table with all of the clamps and guages and sh*t that would need to go with it. Is that lower chassis jig frame made with 1"x1" square tubing? Just checking... I really do not want to use 2", but I will if need be. I need to use the same method for a chassis to go under a '55 Suburban that I got about a year ago. Anyway... I fail to stay on point, here. I just subscribed, so I'll be following this project through to the end, just so I can learn your methods of choice. I am newly educated Machinist, Welder, CNC Programmer, and I earned all of those certs just so I could build my own sh*t. The only thing that I needed, after that, was finding your channel. Thank you! Good luck... I wish you the best!

Thanks man! I used 2x2 .25 wall for the base. You could use 1x1 but I would use some extra bars and make it like a truss if that makes sense. And your project sounds awesome!

@@designbuilddrive Hey… thank you for that information! I sincerely appreciate your time. Im thinking if Im going to folliw your route, then Im going to use the same materials, in order to do it right. 2”x2” is the way Ill go. Thanks again, be safe!

You do nice work , sometimes when you build something the only way to get all the numbers correct is to to build a proof of concept part that's what you did by working out all the bugs on the first try . That( Flitch) plate will also add considerable Strength.

Looks great. One thing though, looks like the front rails have an upward angle. What are you planning to do to level them out to mount the core support? Are you going to do an X or perpendicular cross members for the center of the frame? Keep us updated on your progress.
@designbuilddrive7 ай бұрын
Yes, those sharp corners are a stress concentration point. The giant fish plates are gonna help with that. Plus I'm going to layer some of those spots. And there will be a lot of cross member action.
