By 1992, there were already a few prominent sitcoms featuring African American families like "The Cosby Show" and "Family Matters." Another show, however, that was about to debut that year would be unique in that its main two stars played a black couple that a new generation of fans could relate to. Young adults who didn’t want something as wholesome as the other popular options thoroughly enjoyed it, as did teens who thought the edgier comedy was way cooler than anything else that was available to watch. That show was called Martin.

😵‍💫 It’s creepy how Martin was harassing Tisha around the same time he was married to another woman who looks VERY similar to Tisha. Imagine trying to cheat on your spouse with someone who looks just like your spouse. 🤮

There’s another story there. Martin and Tisha were messing around. Things were fine, till she got with Duane Martin. HE didn’t want them doing romantic scenes. That lead to what eventually happened. Notice, after her and Duane decided to get divorced, one of the first things she did was reconcile with Martin. They never tell you the whole story in one interview. You have to look around to piece everything together

What made Martin such a high quality show was not just the written jokes but also how Martin would adlib lots of moments and have the extras in the background breaking character(and Martin breaking the fourth wall) and laughing their behinds off. This includes the classic stolen CD player/new jack city parody scene along with the unemployment or temp agency office. Speaking of New Jack, Martin’s first theme song was the bomb diggity!!!

Before anyone goes off on the lie that Tisha is the reason the show ended, just STOP. Even Carl Anthony Payne (Cole) spoke of how Martin had become difficult to work with. Tichina backed up Tisha in an interview stating CLEARLY that Tisha absolutely had to leave and fight back. So no, Tisha didn't falsely accuse him because of her new husband or whatever other lies people have made up. Martin was going through a lot and you can even see how high he was in nearly every scene in the last two seasons. He did some bad things and Tisha eventually forgave him. So again, no, she didn't start talking to him again because she was having financial problems. HBO did a THOROUGH investigation and settled with Tisha because they knew she was in the right. Your lies and conspiracy theories against Tisha need to stop NOW. And thank you for your wonderful channel Juicy Pop. Thank you for listing and fully explaining exactly what working with Martin was like. Tisha was using the money she made to support a bunch of her family members so she had to suck up and take the abuse in the beginning until it was too much. We do NOT talk of how much hell Black actresses go through, dealing with racism AND sexism. I love his work but Martin owes a lot of people an apology.

Martin really was lightning in a bottle. What a time to be a kid in the 90s and experience this show and all the other great blk sitcoms of that time. Martin was definitely on that narcotic and running wild. In that 4/5 season that ninja was as high as a delta plane. And I believe Tisha. I believe between him being the "star" of the show, being on that narcotic, and getting too comfortable, it led to him being inappropriate with her. And no reboot. Tommy isn't here anymore. I knew Martin was next! The episode Hollywood Swinging with Tommy Davidson parodying Arsenio Hall is one of the best episodes ever. Between fake MJ, Pam trying to see Denzel, and Martin almost getting into an actual fight with the members of Jodeci, that episode will always be iconic 🤣🤣🤣. Fun fact: Martin actually broke out in character during that episode when he was interviewing Tommy Davidson’s character.

Great Video!!! Martin was another iconic 90's show that showcased so much talent. KZfaq has videos called the best of Martin vs Pam. It's sad that it ended on such a awkward note. .in 2020 While Bad Boys For life was getting promoted a fan asked Martin and Will which of their shows were better, they looked at each other and we will call it an even tie.

Classic 90s Television. I’ve met Tommy Mikal Ford at the now Doubletree Hotel in Downtown Dayton Ohio back in October of 2002. He was very generous and nice. His staff even provide me and other co-workers tickets to a play at the now closed Memorial Hall, “Will A Real Man Please Stand Up. It was simply marvelous. I also saw and met Carl Anthony Payne II at a play at the Schuster Center called Men, Money, & Golddiggers. He was also very nice and generous as well. The early seasons of Martin are my all time favorites along with the various other characters Martin Lawrence played as well.
