@ Brief Case I can truly say this about every story you've ever posted. It is a given that the content and the details you present, are far original to what most other true crime channels are posting. But it is not just the details of the crime that you articulate. From the instant you set up your introduction, your entire presentation comes off like a narration of a well thought out, and mindfuly edited novel. The way you describe the era, the location, and the epoch in which the crime took place, builds a very vivid mental picture of how society has changed across time, and across various nations. You are both a true crime journalist, as well as a legitimate historian. Please never stop doing what you do!💜

The victim was a lunatic accusing his wife of the worst horrors while she tried to talk him back to sanity. He went as far as biting her like a rabid dog!! How is that a proper gentleman behavior? And Frank was the insane one? BULLSHIT. Frank reacted in legitimate defense. What was he supposed to do? Hand over the prick a hammer and say "Golly gosh, honorable father scorned by this vile wench, be my gueeest. Let's have a cup of coffee afterward" ? Justice was ridiculously strict back then, as much as it is ridiculously lax now 😒

Am I the only person who commented out loud all the way through this case? OUCH at the thought of having five children (no offence to anyone out there who has that level of stamina x), then "she returned either bruised or pregnant" 😱. I'm NOT condoning murder but if the Bstd of an abusive woman beating 'husband' had been charged then this situation would not have escalated. I DO wonder if Frank would have been let out if he had been from a different social class. What do you think? 🤔 Poor family, very sad all round. Thanks so much for your work and research, the pics were amazing, I could move in to Franks room - and The Staircase photo - perfect 👌🏼. Good wishes to you, all you love and followers Worldwide Xxx 🙏🏼 ❤️ 🗺️ 🍀 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 P. S., I was going to look up his books but don't think I'll bother now.

My great grandmother had a similar marriage. She had 9 children and was pregnant 12 times! I had a very similar reaction to listening to my grandmother's stories, OUCH! 😂 Her husband was an alcoholic whom she was always kicking out. He was eventually run over by a horse and wagon one night walking home. 3 of the 4 boys grew up to be just like him, but the girls all grew up to be tough, strong, independent women. My grandmother, bless her, is the last one, she will be 92 this year.

Now THAT was a good case! Poor Frank, having to grow up watching ur mother being abused by ur father... that young man was tired & of that & after reading that last letter... threating her life, of course he knew he had to put a stop to it! And I'm sure he tried to talk to his father man to man but his father was mean, crazy, & I suppose didn't want to his child telling him what to do... who knows, probably got violent with him like he did with his mother all those yrs... so of course Frank was prepared & defended himself... like he was supposed too!!! I'm jus glad he didn't have to do too much time bcuz of the circumstances! Yep... that was a good one BC 😊!

Thank You, Brief Case! Excellent, like ALWAYS!👏👏👏👏👏 I feel Frank did snap, because of the Horrible Abuse his Mother Suffered, and kept Suffering, and feared for his own Safety! He knew what his father capable of! When Frank stepped in,& started keeping the viscious letters from his Mother, he was trying to protect the Family. I believe he was so calm, because the threat( his father) was removed. He confessed, accepted punishment, and got to have a life. I, personally feel, it wa Self Defense. His father was Extremely Violent, and Dangerous!! I don't feel Frank was Safe, with his father's Rage.

Absolutely no excuse, but I have to wonder if Mansfield's comments about being at Pine Grove was indicative of some deep rooted "daddy issues" combined with the limited success and criticism of his literary works. Noble and sweet of Frank to step in and try to protect his mother. Proof that a cruel parent doesn't necessarily mean that the child will also become a cruel and hateful person.

@@meemurthelemur4811 Indeed. It seems like thankfully Frank broke the cycle of abusive behavior. Abusive behavior is often cyclical in nature with the behavior being passed from parent to child and it takes a lot of strength to recognize that what is going on is wrong and to decide that they won’t be like the abusive parent. I’m sad that he didn’t get to see his daughter grow up, much less walk her down the aisle but I have a feeling that he would’ve been a good father, not at all like his abusive father. I wonder what happened to his daughter, Clara.

I think Frank was a hero and I commend him for protecting his mother from the beast that was her husband. Hello, BC. As always, superlatives abound. I even loved the sponsored ad you did at the beginning. You could read the words on a package of paper towels and I would be riveted! Stay safe and happy and I look forward to next week’s installment.

Thanks BC! It could very well have been a case of self defense considering his father's past abusive behavior. After the guilty verdict it had to be some consolation to him that his mother would not suffer anymore at the hands of her husband..

Good morning BC and others from Arizona in the USA. I'm excited for your sponsorship! I speak, read, and write Spanish. I wish you continued success! Your accent in Spanish is good. What makes Spanish easier than most languages is that it's phonetic; the conjugation is another matter : ). One thing to remember (at least in the USA) is that most Hispanics appreciate your efforts to learn and communicate with them and don't mind if you conjugate incorrectly because it is easy to figure out what you are intending to say. Hasta luego!

Can't say I blame Frank for what he did, his father was really terrible - more like, donor of biological material rather than a father. If I were on the jury, I'd lean to innocent of murder.

Frank did his mother a solid and removed the threat to her safety and mental health. That's a good boy. I'm glad he didn't get stuck in prison for the rest of his life. May he rest in peace.
