I don’t believe the wife committed the crime at all....just listen to the story the nephew told when interrogated: most of it id clearly a fabricated tale the teen was indoctrinated with, and the only one who could’ve indoctrinate him was his father.

Hence I feel sympathy towards her. It seems like a hopeless situation as I speculate the people she killed may have doubted that she would seek a way out by killing them despite their abusive behavior. Speculation. SMH!

It was pretty common to sleep in separate rooms back in the days.

For wealthy aristocracy back then, yes of course. Poor farmers, hardly.

There is never an excuse for murder, no matter what the situation.

I don't think it would have been safe for either woman upstairs, honestly. Not from the boys, but from William himself. The brother and the cousin were upstairs taking the brunt from William, who was basically a known alcoholic. I've heard this case before from several sources and it seems historically accurate that the boys slept upstairs with him to stop him from beating the girls. I don't know that he was the type to have raped his own daughter, but in a marriage of 20 years in this time period, and they only had two kids?? SEVEN years apart? That's one of three nights he attacked her. She wouldn't let him touch her after each attack. That's an educated guess. Back then, that would have been noticed, but never spoken, by their neighbors. NO ONE INVESTIGATED THAT WRENCHING SMELL. They're all "yeah, we're just not gonna deal with that right now" cos it took them a few weeks to deal with the reality that they ALL KNEW that day somebody's dead. You don't mistake the smell of death. You know it from roadkill. That's how god awful these cases were in reality. It took that whole village weeks to deal with what they knew had happened. This was not a happy family.

Yeah, as soon as I heard the nephew’s story, it sounded like a lie. You don’t threaten to kill someone and hand them a gun. If I had a gun and was being threatened to murder, I’d use that gun to get the heck out of there, or kill the person threatening me. There’d be no incentive to comply. Once the son told his story, it made sense. The nephew was protecting his father.

I'll have to go back and look for it😂 But don't be too hard on yourself, I think people in these parts go out of their way to keep you on your pronunciation toes, so to speak! Philadelphia is full of some really weird ones that you'd never guess without being told (there is a park called Juanita Park pronounced June-ee-ata visitors never get!) Maybe they visited Wales and this is their revenge for having to pronounce Welsh names??🤔

Also small crystals are called Druse ( pronounced Druzee). A connection...I wonder?

Herkimer diamonds are very small, but can still be removed from the surfaces they're attached to.
