The Death Spectres are a great example of how sometimes a successor chapter can still have a close connection to their parent chapter, but maintain a certain level of individuality of their identity and culture. These proud sons of the Raven Lord serve the Imperium proudly in the shadows and the enemies of mankind fear them still.

I never knew any of this about the death spectres. They totally fulfill my love for the"mystic marine" chapter. In the grim dark of the far future, there is only SPECULATION

Codicier Karras in the Deathwatch novel quickly became one of my all time favourite marine characters. He made me want to paint a Death Spectre army but I had no idea how to paint an albino face or how to do their chapter symbol justice.

The two deaths is VERY interesting, I'd say. It means that the soul of any aspirant has basically been "dipped in the Warp" -- and everything that implies -- and then come back. This immediately brings to my mind the practices of the Exorcists chapter, though given that death for humans in 40k can either mean being at the mercy of the ruinous powers or being embraced by the Emperor (or possibly other, yet stranger outcomes!), I suppose it isn't a perfect comparison.

It’s so rare to hear about Thexians and the thexian trade empire. Kind of like a dark mirror of the Tau, as they ally with just truly terrible xenos powers and species.

Not too knowledgeable on the scions of the Raven but their hit and run tactics are absolutely shocking, guard regiments supporting them even in 30k would get to a hostile outpost and find it barren because the 19th legion has already been and gone. I’m pretty sure they’re know as the heralds of the silent death by average humans... I’d happily take the test of the Raven as birds usually come to me instead of me having to go catch them

I like the Death Specters already. They find human women with the right qualities and allow them to perform their duty to the Imperium by birthing potential future asperants of the chapter. So you know that the Specters are keeping those recruiting planets as protected as much if not more than their home world. And you would atleast think that those women would enjoy performing their duty for the chapter and Imperium way more than say a woman who slaved way on a factory world or a forge world.
