On this particular video, the chords being played on the guitar are open position, while the tab is in barre chords. This way, you have a choice. So, they are the same chords, just played in a different place on the guitar. It's good to learn both if you can, but the barre chords will tire out your hands faster, especially on a fast song like this, so the open might be easier. Sorry for the mix up.

Jamie Manning What a great question. I've never had anyone ask me this before. Yeah, I generally play that chord for C, because otherwise, you'll have to have the open E/C chord, or you can mute the E altogether (lowest string) Most people just don't play the lowest string on the C chord, giving them a true C in root position. But, if you play this C/G, it will sound the same, because a true C/G chord has to be in the bass as well. So, if the bass player is still playing a low C on the bass, which in this song he is, then the chord will still sound like a C, even though, technically you are playing C/G. The old Johnny Cash style country, where you alternate between the 1 and 5 in the bass, works well with this C/G chord. You can create your own country rhythm by simply alternating between the C and the G as your lowest note. You will see many country players doing this, because it creates a great rhythm on acoustic.
