The real miracle is the Harley made it all the way down without revving his pipes and looking around to see who noticed.

I drive a 5 ton truck. Came up to a stop light and a Harley pulled beside me. I asked him if he wanted to race? Put a smile on the man's face for the day I am guessing.

I remember buying my GS1100S Suzuki Katana in 1983. A friend of my brothers had a Harley and was trash talking my GS1100S stating that he could beat me in a race. I told him the stats on the Suzuki's quarter mile. He then changed the challenge to a race from LA to Vegas. I just laughed and said I would only do the race if he put up his "pink slip" for his Harley! He declined.

Impressive that the Harley reached the end of the track without leaking oil, losing parts or breaking something... But at least it shakes like a Top Fuel!

I have to admit he got that sucker up to 96 in a short time so I was impressed. That is a well maintained machine to do that.

News flash: Baggers aren't made to go fast. They are made to tour in comfort. This race made as much sense as pairing a stretch limo with a formula one car. Anyway, a 13 second quarter mile isn't bad for a heavy touring bike. Faster than most passenger cars.

Not a bad time really for the Harley either. Might be many stock sport cars and muscle cars that would struggle to catch up with that =)

I can see a lot of people haven't been to a track to test something. You're not racing the other lane unless you agreed to it before and even then it doesn't matter. Suzuki is there to test his build and improve his launch. Harley-davidson guy just having fun . Everything needs to be a competition these days.

The life expectancy of superbike riders still remains significantly lower than non superbike riders, so losing a drag race really doesn't make you a loser if you live to 80 and the race winner is gone at 25.

I'm not a big fan of sport bikes myself, they are pretty uncomfortable to ride for extended periods of time and for some reason every time you put someone on one they decide to go 100 over the speed limit and then complain that drivers aren't seeing them. I don't ride Harleys either because they are overvalued and way too hot when you're stuck in traffic, on top of that every time you put someone on a Harley they end up straight piping it and revving it every chance they get while looking around to see who pays attention. I got myself a Suzuki M109R, boss Edition, I did not modify the exhaust because I don't want to be obnoxious and I don't rev because I don't have a need to unless I need to rev match while downshifting, even then you can just easily let off the clutch and she will downshift nicely regardless of rev matching. She keeps cool and she looks good. In the end it's just about having those two wheels and that engine and being on the open road, I don't care what you ride just so as long as you have respect for other people on that road and understand that a road is not a Raceway, also have a bit of respect for people in their homes and in residential areas, revving your relatively small engine on straight pipes only impresses the 1%, pisses everyone else off

As much as the Hog is dirt slow by bike standards, a 13.5 pass is definitely entry sports car territory; about equivalent to a Challenger R/T. He'll be able to leave 90% of vehicles on the road at a stoplight with that. It's no race machine, but even a slow bike is pretty brisk.

Failed to mention the busa has a TURBO lol.. theyre not a proper "race", these events are normally just to test your bike on the track rather than on the street. Also, for a turbo, it wasn't fast.. i ran mid 10s on a non turbo ZX12R 😁 and a 13 is a good pass for a mostly stock bagger 🙂

I had a 2004 Mach 1 mustang, pulled next to a hayabusa, I knew what was gonna happen but it’s all in good fun, ya it pretty much looked like that. That motorcycle was gone instantly.

Y’all don’t understand that the Harley was stock. Maybe had exhaust but honestly a cruiser bike isn’t meant for drag. You can search up drag nitrous/turbo Harley’s for drag and making upwards of 200hp. And are impressively fast. With the combination of the torque and Hp it does really well at the 60ft time and keeps pulling. And there is it’s own race class for it. Not alcohol bikes etc. why I’ve been watching these vids because they are quick and sound like freedom screaming down the drag strip.

And they had to close the right lane due to the Harley oiling the track. No failure it just leaks.

This is actually a great comparison of old vs new technology. We get roughly a mile/hour faster for each year between the first Harley and the first Hayabusa. And about four minutes quicker for the advancements, which in my opinion is totally pointless. Thank you for uploading!

I couldn't help but laugh halfway through the race. I remember my old man thinking that his Harley full dresser was fast until he test-rode a Honda V65 Magna. The Honda ended up in the barn and his Harley got sold ASAP.

My old boss used to drag race Harleys. We are not talking about a dresser here, he was racing nitro methane V Twins. You wouldnt even recognize it as a Harley with all the different body panels. We are talking 7 second Quarter miles from a V Twin, very impressive.

I thought it might be closer especially with all the aerodynamics on the Harley

To be fair, I was really impressed by the Harley - it managed the whole quarter mile under it's own steam! That's a fair ole distance for one of them as "Chrome doesn't always get you home ya know." (If you where there you'd know the track had to be shut and cleaned due to oil carry over from the Harley breather system - apparently.)
