Those rounds that were found around that tree just made me wonder who dropped them & the situation they were most likely in at the time. Could you imagine a young 16-20 yr old using that tree as cover while trying to load his rifle all while panicking & praying that they wouldn't be killed?! For someone untrained, that would have been a frightening situation to be in.

I thought something along those lines too.....was he nervous and kept packing bullets into his musket....a young soldier learning how to load only to realize he did it wrong....it would be something to step back to that time and see what the real story is....

You rascal, I am trying to get my sermon written today, but you have two new videos out that I can't wait to see. One is on patron so I just had to view that one. Then I was settling back ready to get back to work, then I see part 2 of the Washington home. How could I not stop and view this at least twice. LOL Again, awe research, awe recovery and awe saves as this land will soon be paved over. God bless your efforts to research, share and even live the history of our nation.

Great video Todd! That round ball Robert found might be .75 caliber Brown Bess. It looked bigger than a .69. Great place to hunt. I hope you guys get some rain. Imagine what you could find then.

Hello from Knoxville my friend. Sorry I’m late watching. Just think of all the things we would have found if I was there. Yes come back especially if it rains. Sometimes in the bottom of the three ringers there’s a makers mark I think. Stay safe say hello to the family for me. Loved the video and the history.

Todd, You would think with all the lidar etc. professional detecting that there wouldn't be much left, but there you go! I think that most of the earlier things have walked, but possibly not, but that's a future video,eh? Please thank Bill for the permit. Cheers, Rik Spector

Hey Rik will do. They say the guy who wrote the book on Metal Detecting lived in this house for years and pounded the ground with his White's. I think what we found was deeper than his machine could fetch, but I was thrilled to be able to give Bill artifacts for the foundations museum. We do come back here two more times and do surprisingly well. We have not hit the whole site yet so there will be more videos........Yeah!

@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Another of my ancestors was Johannes (John) Lemly from Winchester, Frederick, VA. He is said to own an inn and drinking establishment. I’d love to know if your research covers that? I understand he is mentioned in George Washington’s writings. He received a reprimand for serving alcohol to the soldiers. He may have had his license revoked, but that may just be family embellishment.

Neat finds! Todd, you mentioned several times that some of the bullets looked like they were "pulled." What does that mean? Thanks!
@magdump4456
@magdump4456 8 ай бұрын
A pulled bullet means it was loaded into a rifle but did not fire or misfired and had to be pulled from the chamber and barrel with a tool
