Another thing to talk about with diminished chords is that there are only 3, as each chord on its own has 4 names. In this case, Edim is the same as Gbdim, is the same as Bbdim, is the same as Gbdim. Which is cool, for the music theory nerds 😊

Maybe my favorite use of ascending diminished is Alan Munde’s banjo ending on “Deputy Dalton” from the Country Gazette album Don’t Give Up Your Day Job. - Paul

I like this shaped a lot. It shows up a bit in pop punk and emo--though they don't cycle through inversion very often. Usually it's just a matter of changing the bass note. BUT STILL. Cool shape, and very cool to see how I can expand it a bit to make some more interesting sounds!

5:08 I believe you meant to say "move it up 3 frets to get to the next inversion", not 4. Four would be true for augmented chords, though :D

billy strings listened to a lot of metal guitarists applying speed tricks to blurgrss its all above my paygrade

Technically, diminished sevenths are not the only symmetric chords. Augmented triads are also symmetrical. But that’s a minor quibble, not a major one. :)

Hey Brice, I just listened through Bullet Man and didn't hear a diminished run like this one, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Do you have a time marking in the tune for the example you were thinking of?
