Once again, back with another xenohuman, today we are going to talk about the dirtmoles, an underground dwelling xenotype living in the billions beneath the surface of various urbworlds.

I feel like dirt mole xeno humans should be much shoter than a normal human as they're underground and food is limited. Forcing their bodies to conserve their limited supply (they're already eating less in game too) so they're probably shorter than a normal human

being smaller generally makes the creatures have a faster metabolic cycle... so them being normal sized is not so crazy

dirtmoles are genuinely one of my favorite xenotypes in Rimworld, such an interesting but sad history and origin of their people. I can imagine refugees of them, in the millions, flooding onto space stations and neighboring planets after a war or even destruction of the Urbworld they resided on.

Just rewatching the series because i missed Hussars drop. I am excited for you to branch out into other sections of the lore, but i am enjoying the xenotype series as well and thought it deserved a comment for the algorithm

Every time I started a mountain base I'd choose to start with 1 dirtmole to dig it out faster and have a decent melee pawn from the start.

I know many picture dirt moles as dwarves but I got more of a locaust from gears of war vibe to them.

Hey everyone, sorry for the delay. I've been slightly busy these days and I haven't gotten around to have some time to record the next video. The visuals and the script are already done, I just need to get around the voice recording and editing. It will be released within the next 2 days.

In our 1.4.x multiplayer experience even the vampires' supposed vulnerabilities, apart from their fear of fire, are completely inconsequential, all of which must be some kinda oversight/miscalculation. In our defence, though: we did prioritize taking dirtmoles to mining camps, and they were usually the prioritized frontline melee fighters.

I really hope 1.5 is a caves insects and dirtmoles updates. We got mechs, we got factions, we got ideology, we got a misc, we need insectoids, that's all the core mechanics done. I mean, the fleshmass second layer is already there, tunnel leading you to a full caves map is already done, a caves update would be easy from here. There's mods for it, but there's no all-encompassing mod that does a cave update, and that's been enough for previous updates

The fleshmass cavern is a revolutionary update because for the first time rimworld has a Z dimension as well. If not through an official update, the fleshmass cave will definitely allow modding to create new wondrous things, now that we have Z dimension implemented in the game engine. THere were already discussions from certain mod creators about plans regarding undergound vaults or mines.

Dirtmoles are an odd xeno type. They are pretty usless in game as the sun is almost unavoidable yet everyone loves them. They shoulda been called dwarves then they would be 1000x better.

I feel like they have a lot of use in-game, and their sun debuff can be countered by having the dirtmole mainly work inside or sleep during the day and work at night. Their melee is also pretty decent.

Zoning is your best friend with dirtmoles, that and pathing strips of roofing outside of mountains. With anomaly bringing in things like sightstealers it might be desireable to have a perimeter wall anyways, and you can use that for roofing too. If you want to save on wealth you can space the walls out a little. I think it's eleven tiles straight at a maximum though I prefer lengths of three to five walls separated by around 7 to 10 free access tiles.
