The was a made for TV concert film called the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. The Stone hated their own performance and the fact that several other acts came off much better including The Who that they shelved it. It wasn't made available until 1996.

The lyrics are almost architypal "blues" - those were songs about how hard life is - my woman left me , i'm working too hard / i'm out of a job, i'm homless and so on. However John Lennon had a very hard early life. His mother was abandoned by his father when she was pregnant and then she was subsequently killed by a drink driver and he was raised by his auntie Mimi. Despite being a genius he was human and was very insecure . He himself said that the song Help truly reflected how he felt at that time and was a cry for help. These guys all new each other and their lives were so extraordinary that normality must have been mixing with each other - it must have been when they were most at ease and musicians always like to collaborate. Eric Clapton was very close to george Harrison , the Beatles and the stones and the who they were all knocking around London together. If you want to see some good early Eric Clapton try reacting to his early bands the yard birds maybe I'm a man ( the yardbirds went on to have Jeff Beck then Jimmy Page as their guitarists so they are a really interesting band) Also then Cream , maybe White Room or Badge . Also i think you would love the Concert for George version of While my guitar gently weeps - if you want to see a super group ( a celebration of George Harrisons life )

This is Beatles song, off of the White Album. The song is a parody of blues music, specifically English imitators of blues. The half-satirical, half-earnest song mockingly acknowledges the British blues boom of 1968 and the debate among the music press at the time of whether white men could sing the blues.

A better parody is 'Can Blue men sing the whites?' by Bonzo Dog Band

Jethro Tulll was on this show also. Richards was a fan and got them on. Did a very bluesy number and Tony Iommi was their guitarist at the time. That alone makes it worth the watch

By the way "The band (Jethro Tull) mimed (vocal and music) to the album version of 'A Song for Jeffrey' "; in other words, it wasn't performed "LIVE".

Another cool fact is that the white Fender Stratocaster Tony is "playing" during that performance, was the one he recorded the song "Wicked World" from Black Sabbath's debut album on, shortly after one of the pickups died and Tony swapped to his backup guitar, a Cherry red Gibson SG Special. From that day on he used the SG for every classic ozzy-era Sabbath album, and almost exclusively uses SG's to this day!

Technically, "Cream" with Eric, Jack, and Ginger was considered the first "super group."

Jhon Lennon was a once in a generation talent who, unfortunately, carried a lot of emotional pain throughout his life. R.I.P.

John lennon suffered from severe depression, probably started with his parents abandoning him, then him Mother dying when he was only 16 and he was starting to spend more time with her.

Members of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Cream and Jimi Hendrix Experience; now this would be the supergroup of all supergroups!

This is just another proof that the Beatles could and actually did whatever they wanted and - actually - were good at it. To say the least

Man Lennon said over and over DONT take his lyrics seriously and dont look for any messages. He famously said the mood of his songs could be affected by whether he had a good crap or not. When he was told Profs in colleges were breaking down his lyrics for some meaning, he wrote "I am the Walrus" and said let the F---ers figure out that.

This song was originally on The Beatles White Album I've read it's Johns response to all the blues being played in England at the time . This Show was held by The Stones but The Who stole the show and The Stones shelved it

Everybody says that the more people who expire and the sooner they do so, the better off we'll all be. If that makes any sense. And I must say that the more I, and everybody, reflects upon it, it certainly does.
