My grandfather would dip the cut ends in cornstarch to help prevent disease and rot. Every time we planted potatoes, we did the same and got some really big potatoes (Kennebec).

I was taught that after cutting the potatoes to dip the cut end in corn starch and can plant right away
@LittleVillageHomestead
@LittleVillageHomestead 14 күн бұрын
There are many different tips and tricks. The cornstarch would coat the cut end and keep it dry, therefore, the potato will not get too wet and rot.

They are heavy feeders so make sure to give them some fertilizer like triple 10 or 12.

Are these the potatoes 🥔 that you got from one of your flash food deals. I remember you getting a bunch of bags of potatoes. I just don't remember if they were 5 or 10 pound bags. Y'all are making my knees hurt. Owie !!! Good luck with your planting.

I wouldn't have the 1st clue where to buy seed potatoes in a 10lb bag like that. Basically it's Menards cheapo bags or bust here. HA! One can plan ahead and 'chit potatoes' from store. I don't know what the difference is. I don't plan to garden this year! I work at a grocery store! Whatever that means. But my mind works like a damned Elephant. I'm here, learning! How you do it. What fertilizer amendments give potatoes a kick up, do they like? love from a people in MN.

I give mine triple 12 before planting and about three weeks after planting. They love nitrogen so I have lots of chicken manure compost in these beds too. In fact, composted chicken manure is the best to use for potatoes. You can buy the seed potatoes at your local nursery. I think you have a shorter growing season than us don't you?
