The Ecorunner V - The most aerodynamic car in the world

This is the Ecorunner V which is built for the Shell Eco-marathon 2015 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This is an one-man vehicle, powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, and it is participating in the hydrogen prototype class. The Ecorunner V has the lowest ever drag coefficient; 0.0512. A normal street legal car has a drag coefficient of +- 0.3.

they should try to modify the model of a certain batman car XD...there is 1 of them thats very aerodynamic...i would adjust the front to be more like an arrow shaped with a crescent form instead of wall like shape to cut the wind resistance........only thing i'am unsure about is if the ribcage like top is inconvenient for aerodynamism

So they want to drive as far as possible on the equivalent of 1 kWh or 1 liter fuel. Isn't that unfair to pure electric vehicles? I would love to know how many kg of equipment is on board to hold and convert that 1 liter of hydrogen to electricity and how many kWh they make from that 1 liter. I ask because I wonder if you replace the whole installation ( from hydrogenstorage to and including the small battery that delivers the electricity) with batteries how much kWh you can take with you and how that compares to the nr kWh generated on that one liter of hydrogen.

The benchmark is the equivalent of 1 litre of petrol so there is no disadvantage to pure EVs. They're not trying to get as far as possible, but to drive with the least energy consumption. The race is only 10 miles. The petrol equivalent consumption is then calculated based on the amount of energy they consumed from whatever energy source they use. In fact pure EVs are at an advantage, which is why they split them all up into different categories. 1 litre of petrol gets 8.9 kWh, and the petrol powered ones usually get around 2000 km/l. Battery powered ones meanwhile get about 700 km per kWh, which if it were a litre of petrol would be well over 6000 km/l.

@@namasayanif Clear, it confirms my feeling EV's are efficient although I am not sure what the translation of 1 litre of petrol into 8.9 kwh is based on.

@@HansKeesom the number came from experiments. We know how to find calorie contents of fuels with a simple experiment of heating up a known mass of water. Then from there numbers are crunched and we get to know how much heat petrol releases (in BTU) per litre, and from that we get 8.9 kWh/l.

Great science but where in the USA do we see this cars on production on the roads . Too much make believe , too much buried science . We need positive action in the right direction .
