I had one of these when they first came out in 2004 for £400 when I was 14 years old on the family farm, I had absolutely no problems with it and put 10’s of thousands of pellets through it, fondly remembered.

This was so much fun to be invited along / involved-with, I have to apologise for unknowingly wearing a black T-shirt ...had no idea we'd be looking at all-black rifles (d'oh!) The lovely lads at BAR have since kindly loaned me a Mk2 Leshiy, which I've been reviewing & have nearly finished testing for an exclusive Airgun World magazine article (first UK mag review, likely to be in the October issue now, in the shops around Wed 26th September). It would've been sooner but Terry the Editor chose my first "Disabled Pest Controller / new Permission" article for the September issue, out 29th August. Thanks again everyone for the opportunity, and the biscuits. :o)

Bought my brand new. 22 mk2 s16s in 2006, 500 quid Inc bypod and full moderator. still one of the most accurate air guns i ever fired. drop a rabbit at 35 yrds. on the range pellets hit same spot every time. only downside is the cocking mechanism, but used to it now, and the weight. Still use it for pest control. Brilliant gun.

Late feedback: My first airgun was a second hand gat when I was about 12. My first air rifle was a long while later, when I was 23 in 1976. A Relum Tornado .22 second hand, £10 when I was working in Cornwall. Still got it in working order. Andy B.

1st gun was milbro repeter (looks like a 1911 ), and 1st air rifle was 1950s daisy pump action, both bought for me by my dad when I was about 7 years old (I'm 44 now) still have both and both have been sent in for a rebuild with my local gunsmith, great show keep um coming!

My first air gun was a birthday present from my older brother when I was 8 in 1968 a Webley pistol, then the next year a new Webley rifle, still got them both, a meteor after that, loved that one, and the mid 70s a commando rifle Spanish I think it was, but it was accurate. a Vulcan followed then of coarse so did a HW 80, the cannon ! HW 77, 90, 100, various Theoben's including the great SLR88, 1 Daystate, Regal, great hunter. now i'm on my (hopefully) last one a Brocock Bantam, apart from the commando I still have them all and all in perfect working order, then there are the fire arms but I won't go there as they are not even close in the fun factor to shoot ! keep at it lads, the show is a winner !!

The S16 was £399 new. It wasnt absolute crap though. I thought it was a joy to shoot. I did have some issues with leaking through damaged o rings but I largely cured it myself by polishing everything to a mirror finish and replacing the o rings with ones i got from an industrial o ring dealer that were made of a different compound. I dont remember the exact spec of the o-rings used but I was advised by a great bloke in a pneumatics shop in Rotherham who helped me greatly when I showed him the problem. The name of the bloke and his shop I forget but he never charged for the time I spent with him, only for the o-rings which cost about £2. He even admitted that the o rings should be like 20p but he couldnt create an invoice for 20p. I was overjoyed to pay that since the gunsmith charged me £40 to fix it the first time it sprang a leak. Ok I guess you could say it was absolute crap if you are not a tinkerer.

i had the original stealth 2000 and later i bought an s16 -2nd hand almost give away price because it was always jamming. well honestly it was just down to sheer laziness on the cocking in my opinion i never had a jam in the time i had it and when i sold it on to a new comer to the club because he was taken with it i just explained the cocking and he never had a jam in all the time he and his son were at the club..if anything it was a tad heavy for anything other than bench rest which is what we do anyway at bags. the edgar brothers one sold for £399 locally when the price dropped....i still have the crosman that russ showed and the 2240 both set up the same......just after i had bought my edgun which was the 2.5 version i believe ,..ed made the next version the mk 3 about a year later and on a video he said everyone complains my guns are too dear well they are unique he said and if you want one you will pay the price he has maintained that and still going strong..love the look of the leishy but these days unless i won the lottery i couldnt afford that or any high end gun..good video prog keep them coming chaps..

Still got an original "Sweet 16 MK 1" still working fine as a pest control gun, few teething problems when I first bought it around 14 years ago but once they were ironed out its run perfectly and pellet on pellet accuracy … get a good one and they go on and on...

Thats great to hear . They weren't all bad , just quite a percentage of them. From a retailers point of view, anything over 10% is bad, the S16 was a lot higher but I've seen old guns nowadays and once sorted, like you say they are good :)

David Johnson Them were the days eh.. me old man bought me the BSA Mercury back in 1974 ... when I were 14 ... great being 58 aint it ...lol ... how times have changed, air rifles too say the least .. still got the old mercury though , dont shoot it though because the stock has an awful hairline crack in it , and with the new titan spring I put in recently ( dug it out the attic about 3 yrs ago )every time it fires the crack opens ... so ive stopped using it ... nonetheless , geting it out the attic after god knows how many years gave me the " bug " again ... and now the kids have moved out , spending time shooting my collection of pcp's (and riding motorcycles)... aint bought another springer though ..

Really enjoying these videos, especially the tales from the trade that we wouldn't normally hear about.If you're after questions to ask Claire West when she makes her appearance,could you ask her if they'd consider offering their springers with the original 14mm longer piston latch rod, either as an alternative to the longer stroke we have now, or even as an after market spare piston.

remember going to one of the big game fairs once and logun had a stand there with the protoype of this gun, only difference was the cocking mech, it was pump action! i was sold, even though i had a rapid at the time, the pump action was just so sweet. then it came to market and no longer had the pump mech, i inquired as to why and was told it was illegal to have the pump action on it. so that was the end of that.....

Have you thought about playing the lottery ? The early ones had about an 80% return rate so yes there some good ones, and you are right, taking care when using them is a good idea. Got a Parker-Hale Phoenix laying around? I'd like to see that one.The Phoenix has an interesting story behind it, as well. I've owned the Sweet 16(S), and it was a great and powerful gun (FAC). It cocks on the forward shove of the bolt, so you're correct about the jamming. It was a difficult gun to tune, but I managed a more-flat shot string for my efforts. Miss it. Keep doing this history segment.

Can you tell me why the new Brocock cannot be sold in this country with a folding stock? I am sure there are airguns that are the same length as this when its stock is folded already out there. Is this a case of the manufacturer being frightened of where legislation is heading.

Actually I've already asked and did not really understand the answer. It's to do with legislation and minimum gun and barrel lengths. But I'll be looking at one at the game fair next week so I'll get back to you on the next show
@TonyBelas
@TonyBelas 6 жыл бұрын
Jim Robinson : well I've looked into it, interrogated the main players, and I cannot find out either. The action with the butt folded is over 60 cm, the barrel is well over 39 cm, the shroud is locked in place and with the barrel removed the rifle cannot be fired. Please correct me if I'm wrong but there's no restrictions on butt length or even if it has one, just overall and barrel length. Anyone have a contray view? Or do you agree with jim and I?

Well the calibre debate is opening a can of worms. Generally .177 for target and .22 for pest control is accepted wisdom but some people prefer .177 even for hunting , although I'm not one of them. As for scopes the guys in the shop will guide you but you can't go wrong with a Nikko Panamax . Take a look at one you will be impressed with the quality as a sensible price :)

I can't see the profile of the rifle because the guy in the middle is wearing a black t-shirt, you need to think about what the viewer is able to see, is there any chance you could film a close up of the rifles you're reviewing as they all just look the same from where I can see it. I preferred the review vids you did in the shop you could actually see what you were reviewing.
