You should read this. There's no evidence in the Quran that Allah forbids music. It's just in this age of fitna, there's more corrupt music than clean music, songs with inappropriate beats and lyrics. It depends on the kind of music you listen to, so make sure before you listen to any music, read at least a bit of the lyrics first. www.linkedin.com/pulse/20141022073956-334388224-music-is-not-forbidden-in-islam

For anyone looking to replace music with something else. I'd suggest listening to audiobooks or nature sounds. Like rain or other nature sounds. There are other interesting sounds in our planet as well besides rain or other nature sounds. For example the sound of earth, when it moves in the universe. The sound coming from beneath the ice. There are other things as well. Or you can listen to lullabies without music. Traditional lullabies. If you fall asleep listening to music.

People say "Music is life" or "Music is a medicine for healing" But for me it gives me anxiety, it's a headache, like somtimes my ears hurt, so I've cut down my time listening to it and pray in namaz to reduce my time of listening to music and then end it! Sometimes the stress and anxiety from your brain might also come from to much listening to music, Moreover when you're praying some random songs start playing in your head, which makes your focus loose on namaz, pray to Allah and ask for His guidance, Insha'Allah Allah will help us all!

Your desires change as per the lyrics of the music you start imagining how you'd look doing things those songs contain. TBH its worst than other addiction because it not only wastes time but spoils your thinking too. You can go hours listening to it and still want more after a break.

Hehe I got this problem. But I have to disagree some of your statements, there's some Muslims like Abu Nasr (I don't remember his full name you could search it, he's so popular) he plays instruments to calm sad people and to make people happy. About the ears, I went to the specialist last March and he said that I shouldn't use headphones (could give infection if there's bacterias or viruses there) and not to turn volume very high to care eardrums. About the addicted, yes I do agree about that's why we shouldn't hear music very often (for free time is okay). But the word "addicted" help me to memorize elements in periodic table for chemistry and qalqalah qubra. That's all. Allah knows better Assalamualaikum.

A GOOD WAY to cut down on music is to find a Qur'an reciter whose recitations toy really like: there are many who aren't well known but try using hash tags to find them. A couple of personal favourites: Omar Hisham Al Arabi and Maghfira M Hussein. Try to memorise very short (three line) surahs of the Qur'an. The easiest way is to listen to it on repeat. But if you don't want to do either of those things at least get rid of 98% of dirty songs in your playlist (I would say all but it could be you have one or two favourites and aren't ready for that step yet.) Remember, we don't HAVE to do things cold Turkey. Even before alcohol was completely prohibited first you just weren't allowed to be intoxicated during salah. Doing things in steps usually makes giving up habits or sins easier. I was a massive music addict. I decided in Ramadhan I wanted to cut down and also wanted to start memorising Qur'an. It was 2 months (Ramadhan and the month after) before I listened to music again. I have my moments but I can't believe how much I've cut down. If you want to stop a sin Allah will help you - And don't think you can't ask Allah to help you stop.

Music 🎵🎶 traps you in the past and your current situation, and makes you think about them It interferes with emotional situations you do not need. A total waste of mental space. The more you immerse in it, the more you get thirsty. It drains you, leaves you as an empty void constantly needing more and more supply just to get going. It is a recipe for addiction, an eventual mental bancruptcy. Look at the most accomplished musicians, did they attain peace? Most will end up befriending vices of liquors, drugs and untamed desires. The essence that makes their music successful is the same thing that destroys their inside. Even after such self-sacrifice act, their music label and management are the ones who reap the most profit. In the giant machinary of music industry, a musician is one tiny replacable screw in abundant supply, always prone to exploitation and abuse. If you have conscience, you do not want to be part of such system, not even as a consumer. Music competes with the Qur'an in the real estate of the mind. Just like water and oil, music and the Qur'an do not mix, a gain in one is a loss of the other. The Qur'an gives you freedom and makes you think about the future, a supply of regenerative happiness from the Ultimate Source. The best medication. If only you understand. I don't think everyone will understand me.

Agree 🙏🏻. Same for Italian music . Not only in explicit and disruptive contents , also romantic music is always about breaking up , loss , pain , revenge .. Is very dis- educational because makes you believe that real love should be instantaneous and based on passion and not patience . We want all immediately. We have no patience to build, to know the other . We want to consume . Infact marriages don t last . I now understand how much romantic / “ love “ songs influenced me . At the end the right man was a friend I have from 15 years and he is really committed to long term relationship. 🙏🏻❤️ I love this channel even if I am actually Christian .

Dear brother I agree with what you are saying about the direction of our society and I do request in future series you equally mention Male population when it comes to STI/STDs and not just single out Females. Statics shows that more times male passes STI/STDs and do not even know they have it. Especially in countries where it is taboo to mention indiscretions. Again, to me it seemed from this presentation that people outside our communities might take this video as "us Muslims blaming only women for indiscretions hence spreading diseases". Remember it takes TWO. We were made in pairs.

Hamza is correct, the mind is like a sponge and we do not decide what is soaked up and what is left from the things we hear. There is definitely something about music defined broadly to include singing that can play and twist the emotion of man. Be warned, the shaytaan is ever subtle in his approach. I suspect most are not willed enough to be not affected or distracted by music. Certainly, pursuing such an avenue as a career is problematic.

A song can a poem put to a melody, or just a melody. It can be used to express joy, sorrow, an anthem of one's country, an event such as a parade or a dance, etc. Music, like anything else, can be used for good purposes or bad. Without God, there is no definitive moral standard. God gave us the ability to write and enjoy music. I listen to music on a radio station while I'm traveling. I still like the old standard hymns. My church minister likes more modern hymns. Singing a new song while learning it can be daunting. I have mixed feelings about Rap because while the melody is catchy, the words can typically be profane.

I have education in the art of music and I can tell you that today's music is bad. Not only is the lyrics vulgar, but also the music is made to be addicting on purpose. If you really have to use music or want to listen to it, then I'd suggest you go for classical music. They're usually long and harder to remember (because of their complexity), which is why it went out of trend in Western society (they got addicted to pop culture and come to dislike complexity). But on the bright side your head won't be filled with music repeating itself constantly with classical music, like you usually do with pop music.
