Golden Tempest is nuts. He's so strong, so fast, easily a new difficulty level. Emberplume is so, so visually impressive but he's got nothing on Tempest in terms of pure power.

Golden Tempest does look pretty cool. Although I can't help but think that Shara Ishvalda and Magnamalo may have had a child and since no one wanted to take care of it got sent to an Oprhanage. And then Omega Force adopted it and put it into Wild Hearts.^^

This makes the second time I've witnessed the specific scenario, set within lands inspired by a Feudal Japan with a noted propensity for sustaining enormous creatures, wherein a sabre-toothed tiger-esque beast able to use unorthodox means of propulsion to replicate flight engages in aerial combat with a regal pyrokinetic entity designed around the masculine aspect of a sexually dimorphic species that results in an explosive stalemate.

I'm glad to see other people struggle with this guy as much as I did. I had to hunt him with a full group to have a chance of beating him the first 5 or so hunts and he's the only monster I didn't solo first.

There are absolutely layers of inspiration to Emberplume and Golden Tempest. The base layer I would guess is Emberpume is meant to be Suzaku with Golden Tempest being Byakko. And if that's the actual case, I wouldn't be surprised if there's also two more super strong kemono based on Genbu the turtle and Seiryu the dragon, tho the Seiryu beased one may just be more snake-y than dragon-y. Wild Hearts pulling in the Four Lords of Chinese mythology, hell yeah!

Golden Tempest really here doing its darnedest to replicate Shara Ishvalda. Even the armour replicates the inspiration for Shara Ishvalda, the Sumerian tale of Inanna's descent into the underworld. Quite fascinating that tale, and really shows its inspiration for Shara Ishvalda.

@Landon Rife Shara Isvalda's rock armor being needed to be stripped before he can be killed, is much what Inanna had to go through in said Sumerian tale Gunless mentioned. ^So yes, they may look primarily Hindu-Buddhist, but that's hardly the only inspiration at work

So we got a Phoenix/peacock for Suzaku, we got a windy Saber tooth tiger for Byakko, all we need is a heavenly dragon God for Seiryuu and a giant tortoise for Genbu.

Amaterasu Kemono is a Phoenix based on Japanese folk lore and as for Emberplume is a peacock from tropical areas

A quick tip that a friend and I discovered while hunting Amaterasu is that you can res a partner and still build karakuri so it may be useful when playing with other people

if you're having a hard time with the golden tempest, starbombs are cheap, deal good fire damage and will sometimes light him on fire causing him to fall over. he likes to jump slam attack a lot so those are very easy opportunities to punish him with them. also i managed to cancel his omega bomb (he sits on his hind legs, charging up a huge wind ball) with a harpoon and toppling him over. I would prob wait toward the end of the hunt to use traps since after the first one, they barely hold him for like 2 seconds maybe.

Omega bomb can also be effectively cancelled by the elemental lantern, so harpoons can be saved for other stuff.

I don't think traps need to be reserved for the end of the hunt, but definitely should save them for when he's enraged. He's just as dangerous enraged on high health than he is enraged on low health.

it took me 3 or 5 tries to beat him (using the safest weapon clawblade) im not sure if its because i forgot or not but it felt on a equal difficulty as arch tempered velk and man... he is really fun he doesnt give u a break or a opening YOU make ur own openings and it just makes it a lot more satisfying

this is in my opinion by far the hardest fight in the game. (ok the endgame stuff is harder.. but thats mostly because of the time and faint limit not because of the actual monster being hard :P ).

You can Charge Up the Juggernaut Blade much faster with the celestial threat by Just doing the Jump Attack and then a morph attack. That will give you imediately 2 charges. Also you can Use the Juggernaut Blade while flying wich does a Lot of damage fast

Was able to beat Golden Tempest solo on my second attempt. He's definitely hard, but he had nothing on Emberplume for me. Emberplume was the monster I failed on the most in the entire game. I wiped to it probably 5-6 times before I was able to beat it. Most of the time I was never able to get anyone to join my hunts, so stuff like Amaterasu, Golden Tempest, and Emberplume I had to beat solo. Nearly happened on the final boss too. Got to second to last phase solo on my first attempt, but had zero heals and 10% hp left on one life. I definitely would've failed had 2 people not joined, but I've farmed the final boss 6+ times since, and have only gone down once and never failed it. It's honestly insane how built around co-op Wild Hearts is. It's an entirely different game with even one extra person. I've never felt like I was struggling with 1 or 2 other hunters.

For me their difficulty is reversed. But both are really really tough. After hunting them both over and over they're doable. But every now and then they both make me sweat. Coincidentally, hunting with people make these fights easier and harder at the same time. Rezzing someone is tough in both fights

final boss has a glaring issue though: you've passive thread regen in the fight, and vaporiser only costs 5 thread. That along with him basically showering you with thread when you hit it, means you're nearly impossible to kill as long as you don't waste your threads.

seeing a White Tiger and a Phoenix makes me think there will be a Black Tortoise and a Blue Dragon cause from what i know, those 4 are holy beasts in japanese/chinese culture (could just be asian culture in general but i'm not too sure) and are the symbols of the 4 directions (I think Dragon was East and Vermillion bird was south, dont remember the other 2 tho)

While i absolutely agree, mh should experiment with changing damage types, but as "blunt dual blades" goes i just want tonfas, they are amazing and soooo fun

Well to be fair the weapons (Tonfas & Dual Blades) are different enough that it shouldn't matter much. Though I do think they can do a better job of differentiating and balancing them if they get released into mainline MH games. But yes, I think not only the different damage types should absolutely be in MH, I also think the Weapon Tree is so much better in Wild Hearts rather than having 15 different fire weapons and 2 ice weapons because the majority of MH monsters just happen to be fire monsters. Plus the weapon evolution makes so much more sense.

Also as you said after seeing and using wild hearts the weapon tree system has a ton of room for improvement that i hope gets expanded on in mainline MH
