Well yeah it’s high praise but they’re also both demigod immortal ultra geniuses. It sounds impressive out of context but Ferrus is basically just saying “this other Primarch who is a blacksmith is also a blacksmith who is Primarch-tier, just like me.” I absolutely love love love Vulkan but he’s definitely been getting overhyped by the fandom recently, due in part to Majorkill I think. A lot of people forget the fact that he keeps getting killed over and over and over again. If he wasn’t a Perpetual, he’d be as unnoteworthy as Ferrus is. Which is what ACTUALLY makes this scene so interesting in my opinion: the only thing that distinguishes Vulkan from ANY of his brothers is his pereptuality - Sanguinius shares his humanity, he’s far from the best combatant, he’s physically not as strong as Ferrus, and he isn’t a psyker of any note. But he IS a TRUE immortal.

Fulgrim did too during their forging competition where he made ferrus his hammer and ferrus made fulgrim his sword. They matched eachother in craftsmenship to the point that they decleared eachother the better craftsmen.
