I think v76 was supposed to be the new recruits in the enclave. Think about it. A vault full of America's best and brightest just a stones throw away from the enclave bunker. We were supposed to bolster the enclave's ranks. Plus it would've been a pure set of genes to mix with. I also think the overseer's mission to secure the silos was supposed to discover the enclave and join them creating a new strong military power in post war America

It would have been nice to actually experience some of the events that happened in 76's main story instead of hearing about them on holotapes.

I do believe if Eckhart hadn’t sabotaged the alert list and all members had arrived, the 76ers and Overseer would be utilized first and foremost as part of a main repopulization and reconstruction effort. With the lack of the Scorched, only Ghouls and Super Mutants would’ve posed any risks, with the Enclave likely uniting the group’s who’d form. The BoS would immediately be at odds with the Enclave over Mariposa as it was top brass who orchestrated that mess. Actually if the Enclave had survived in such a state, they’d likely reach out to Taggardy’s Thunder before they learned of Mariposa. Would be a right mess with that reveal.

Another reason to choose Appalachia is purely resources from nuclear materials to more mundane iron, coal, etc and the whole apocalypse thing means there is not exactly a environment left to ruin if you want to strip mine any areas. Further its mountainous and defensible both from potential domestic breakaway factions and from any unforeseen Chinese land invasion in regards to the phase 1 continuation of the war effort assuming the Agriculture secretary did not fuck things up so hard it would be a great rallying point as well for survivors of various nearby major military forces such as those down south in North and South Carolina and various scattered national guard units.

I've been thinking of joining a role playing group of the enclave for fallout 76. This may be dumb but I just love the X-01 and how I can make their eyes turn red. So bad ass.

It's likely that the Enclave had a plan to go to space in case if America was truly lost.

I would like to add something about Vault 76 wasn't it the overseers mission to activate the nuclear silos which leads me to believe that vault 76 was like a back up to the back up of there nuclear plans

So are The Enclave and the Pre0War U.S. Government different things? Fallout 2 & 3 lead me to believe the Enclave WAS the government, but the way MODUS talks about them makes it sound like they are a separate organization.

The more I think about it, there are many similarities between SHD and Enclave. But Enclave chose to be isolationists and abandoned mainland while SHD fought to their last loyal member to rebuild America.

Their goals have been secret? When? Fallout 2: establish a solid foothold on the west coast, and gradually push east, reclaiming important locations and technology. Fallout 3: use the water purifier in the Jefferson memorial to restore clean water to the wasteland that kills everything mutated, I.e. everything not them. This would massively change the wasteland, and would actually be the best option of actually fixing america.

Funny thing about the ending there; Fallout’s logic of nuclear war kind of falls apart compared to how it would be waged IRL. It’s true that nuclear missile silos are generally built in areas with lower population densities - in real life our Minuteman III missile fields are mostly in Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota - but the reasoning for this is because they would actually be among the most heavily bombed regions in the world, not the least lmao. The #1 target of nuclear weapons is other nuclear weapons and infrastructure, not cities. In a real life scenario where Russia deploys its entire deployed arsenal against America, over HALF of their warheads are assumed to target that region (450~ Minuteman silos x 2 warheads each for redundancy bc of accuracy = 900(!!) warheads across 3 states lol) The fact that Appalachia is filled with missile silos which would be visible from satellites combined with literal AUTOMATED NUKE FACTORIES, and yet it was barely hit during the Great War is absolutely INSANE and makes zero fucking sense if you really think about it 💀 putting those nuke silos so close together and especially close to a nearby Enclave bunker network is wild, Vault 76 should’ve left on Reclamation Day to be greeted by a sea of fucking glass lmao One of my favorite fan theories of all time from the Fallout fan theory subreddit posits that China was aware of the Enclave to some extent and worked to hinder their post-war plans by striking important facilities for them in the OG games, such as the Glow, which they hit directly so as to release the FEV they knew would still be there and cause global mutations the Enclave would have to deal with. Whether they were even aware of the Enclave’s plans though, they would certainly know about all those silos in Appalachia and hit them

great video. however I think you have left out a major plot point that many others seem to overlook for some reason as well. If you look at the lore The enclave members were actually messing with FEV in WV before the war. Most of the devastation caused in WV is from FEV not nuclear fallout. the Ash heap was actually hit hardest from radiation however it was caused by nuclear bombs underground. no nukes actually landed in WV besides the ones that the player eventually launches.

76 would of been so much better as a single player game. And anyone who disagrees baths their dad.

The Whitesprings bunker was honestly such an empty letdown. Congress surviving the great war only for the player to "just miss 'em" in the bunker is bs to the max, especially alongside that exact tool being used to explain the death of multiple factions the player would have encountered if Bethesda had bothered IMO. They could have been an interesting and more philosophical exploration of the politics of the wasteland - especially compared with the Charleston capitol faction who were also politicians surviving the great war that we "just missed". Likewise, they also could have provided more information about the Enclave if Bethesda ever bothered to write lore for more than one game at a time. Them, the firebreathers, the Free Staters and the responders were absolutely robbed from the player in favour of a wasteland full of poorly written robots, overly moralistic survivors and a Brotherhood of Steel that shouldn't have been in West Virginia at all.

You mentioned the bunkers in the other fallout games but didnt mention the backup bunker in NV?
