Spring is here and I am pushing to get the last logs on the walls, but the height and complexity of the build is making it more challenging. There are not many logs left to go on the walls but I expect some of them to be very difficult. Some are so big that my tractor is not going to be able to lift them, and others need to be placed where my tractor can not reach as you will see in the video. I will keep pushing forward to get the log work done and I am excited to continue to share it with you friends!

Welcome to Traplines and Inlines
I have the pleasure of sharing my passions for the wilderness, building, fixing and all other things interesting with my great group of KZfaq friends.
I have lived offgrid in the bush for over 3 years, but now I am moving to the next chapter in my life and am building a big log home as my next place to live. It is going to be an incredible journey building my own home. I am using logs I harvested myself and plan to do most of the work by myself. This project will be the main focus of my channel, with many other adventures along the way im sure!
Thank you for watching

take some bailing wire and triangulate that scaffolding. That will cut the racking in half. Add a board across the bottom to eliminate it entirely.

KZfaqr “My self reliance “, put together a “system of pulley” that allows you to lift logs effortlessly, all by yourself. Its wayyyy cheaper Then getting a crane. That’s the way they used to lift stuff back in the old days before they invented cranes and etc. 😊 Or Do a KZfaq search for “how to install a pulley to lift heavy logs” or some wording like that. Best wishes

Hells bells, remember the tortoise and the hare? Slow and steady is ALWAYS the best way. I love the way you correct mistakes as you go. It saves a lot of expense to correct them after you are finished. With such huge logs, I can't believe you are doing it on your own. This build is amazing. Keep it up, you're doing brilliantly. I don't care how long it takes because when it's finally finished it will stand as a testament to your colossal endeavor for a quite a few generations. Your great, great grandchildren will be lauding you and you will have set an example to them of the human capabilities we can all have. Stay safe.❤

P&H RT-180 (18 ton). Slung big logs all over Alaska and Idaho. All wheel drive, Jimmy 4-71, fixed cab, all wheel steering, low cg. Stay away from cab on turntable. High cg and an air throttle. A real pain to move around and set up. RT has one piece outriggers, goes about anywhere (including erecting lifts on ski mtns (had to have a D-6 pull me up and down cat trails but goterdone). These were made in the '70's & early 80's and should be fairly cheep. For your purpose, it can't be beat. Best of luck, Rick-Huge Erection Co.

Awesome Job. There is something quite calming about watching you complete a job most of us could only dream of. That's going to be one hell of a home you're building my friend. You're right though. Logs believe it or not is the cheap stuff. Just fuel and sweat. The finishes are what's going to bleed you out. But you're wise enough to know and savvy. You'll get there my fellow Kyle. Our names are awesome!!! Cheers from Ontario

Tractor Height Solution Maybe you’ll see this. Maybe not. Having spent a goodly portion of my life running heavy equipment I’d like to offer an idea. When your tractor does not get high enough it is only because your ground is too low. Build a ramp up the side of the cabin, maybe four feet high, and you will be amazed how easily your tractor can do the job again! Once you dig the basement you will have literal truck loads of dirt. Pile it up in key locations, make sure it is about twice as wide as the tractor and only drive up the center. That ole tractor can do anything you like if you build the ramp right. Good luck to you.
