I've seen people literally say that a 70% score on a film or game is "actually really bad." People only want 90's and up nowadays, so a 6/10 for them IS saying the movie was shit.

Honestly I think toxic positivity is one of the worst things plaguing modern culture now. It gets so annoying when you have genuine gripes about any piece of media only to be yelled at and told to be “positive”. When in reality the positivity is just lying to yourself.

Remember Kids: the internet is all about who can whine the loudest.

Imagine going out of your way to see the Sonic movie 2 early, writing a script and editing a proper review, putting it on KZfaq...Only for people to not even watch it, take it for face value and bash you for an opinion when they haven't even seen the movie or the video.

Titles can usually be the make or break of whether or not people will see a person’s video or not, and with the case of Mark’s previous vid it’s probably not always the best to judge it when you don’t really know what’s truly being said in it, and despite his views being different from others he still maintains a respectable attitude about it, which is something I can definitely appreciate.

Imagine genuinely getting mad when someone says that "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is a bad movie. Sonic fans are embarrassing.

This comment may seem ironic on this video being about negative comments but I feel like this video was largely unnecessary. First of all most of these 'hate' comments are so poorly written that you can assume they were made by children. So why should you care so much about what a child thinks about your opinion? And while they may not be children behind these comments, they clearly don’t care so much as to actually criticise your video or arguments in a constructive way. To quote Ratatouille 'the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so'. I'm not saying your video was junk but rather the hard work and effort you put in is a thousand times more important and impressive than a thousand comments made with a single thought and action, saying that it was bad or wrong. I'm not sure why there's a segment about people pointing out your way of saying tails. The comments you showed seemed to imply people just thought it was funny yet your statement implies you were annoyed. Sorry people find your accent funny. In fact, everyone has an accent. People just like pointing out that which they don't hear often. I don't think they were making fun of you and if they were, who cares? It's not like it's something that matters. I don't even think you got all that much hate for that video, as most people who agree typically like or move on without a word. You even state here that it is a "Loud minority" of people so you know most people don't care or they like your video. It also shows the like to dislike meter. (7.4 - 1.4 at this time) You've been making videos on moives, games and shows you like and don't like for a while now. So you've surely had an unpopular opinion with people stating their dislike for it. So why is this the one that broke the camel's back? Why is the hate on the sonic video the one that needs to be addressed with basic points that have been made before in every type of review. 'You don't have to agree' 'Don't watch if you don't like' 'Make your own conclusions' 'You can't have a strong opinion on a movie you've never seen'. Less than a minute to make these points. Yet here in a 13 minute video you're repeating yourself with comments that state the same things. (But I can understand if you've never made this type of video before and felt it was necessary. I don't know if thats the case) Everything said here could have been made into one or two tweets. Not a video 3 minutes longer than the review it’s about. Or maybe you could have made a structured video, going over all of the points made in these comments and providing context to your opinions while maybe stating if you've changed your opinion. I just feel like this video was unnecessary venting about comments that don't really matter. And you can make videos like this but maybe make it shorter and more concise. But it's your channel and you can do whatever you want. I just don't feel like there's enough context to your feelings on the response you got for that video. Maybe it's the first time in a while you've gotten that many negative comments. Or maybe you feel like you're a sonic fan who is being attacked for criticising something you would normally love. And you feel more strongly about this because of that. I don't know because there isn't much context. This was just my opinion though. Thanks for reading.

this is exactly why people who review shit are petrified to post their real opinions on anything, and why the entertainment industry in general has become so reliant on an incredibly stale status quo that has been in place for years

Overhype is a serious curse. People shouldn't forget that not everybody is gonna have the same opinion as you and that's OK. You're allowed to dislike something. Though you need to be careful with how you come to terms with hating something. It shouldn't be a Turning Red situation where you hate it solely off the cover of it's book and because you can't relate to it. You need to give it a chance and FULLY watch that content before you judge it. A movie that's in my list of favorites is Hoodwinked. That movie has terrible animation and yet I still gave it a chance. What I found was a very creative story with entertaining characters.

It happened with Sonic Colors Ultimate, a rushed glitched out product, and now this. I get that we’re tired of receiving bad products but this is so unjust. Also the whole “Teels” thing is just Mark’s accent. It’s obvious that he is referring to Tails, YOU CAN SEE FOOTAGE OF HIM ON SCREEN! If the dance fight in sibera was replaced with a good scene of sonic and tails developing a friendship, I feel like the movie as a whole would be pretty solid. For example instead of them dancing sonic could teach tails how to roll into a ball, so that way he could defend himself in the final battle without just gadgets.

Honestly I’ve been in the sonic fanbase long enough to see this coming. Sonic movie 2 was one of those things people were desperately hoping to be good so that the L streak Sonic’s been on can finally turn around, so seeing it being criticized probably struck a wrong cord in people and threw em for a loop. ..and also sonic fanbase shenanigans :/

We are not asking for a whole new perspective on life, we are not asking for our way of critical thinking to be completely innovated. We are asking for substantial, civil discussion, where people can freely express their thoughts, takes, and opinions on something without leading to drama and upset. If Sonic discussion can't even be THAT, I have no hope for it to improve, nor do I have hope for discussion of art to improve. The lower the discussion goes, the closer I get to leaving it, and becoming and independent fan of the franchise.

I've noticed in LS Mark's comment section for a while that people seem to give their opinions on the video before even watching it. He always gives a fair, balanced criticism and openly invites thoughtful discussion and disagreement, but people read the title and start hate-typing. And that's not me defending him because I'm some fanboy. I've disagreed with plenty of his takes, but that doesn't mean I have to call him a biased hater for disliking something I enjoyed. Media is a very subjective field.

As a Sonic fan, I can confirm that this is unfortunately true. The fanbase is so toxic, Riley Freeman himself felt like calling everybody a hater like it's hunting season for toxic kids. That's why I choose to be more of a creative and imaginative Sonic fan that comes up with ideas instead of just expecting a game to be perfect with 0 mistakes and then getting mad if there's a single mistake. Like if a Sonic game gets bad reviews, I may or may not buy it, but then again so what? If something fails, that's good because failing can lead to success. Shoutout to Meet The Robinsons for teaching us that during childhood and now 💯💯

86% of people in the video were essentially saying "Since your opinion is different than mine, you are stupid and should be banished from society" The other 14% are actual reasonable statements, some having different opinions but still being respectful about Mark's opinion, basically saying "I respectfully disagree with you on some points, but your review is still good".

This movie was a bit disappointing, but it was a blast. Just like Mark, I saw it with 3 friends, all of which being big sonic fans. We had some of the most fun I have had in a theater

I think this is one of my favorite videos you've ever done. Not only was it fun watching you deconstruct all these crying children's arguments, but I also think it does set a dangerous precedence when we are all accepting of mediocrity just because it's not garbage.
