It seems like Max tried to get bald, doing all sorts of experiments on that beautiful long hair, but the hairs were too stubborn to leave his head, lucky bastard!
@Matthew-RSa2 жыл бұрын
Some may disagree but Chaos AD and Roots are when Sepultura really finalized what Brazilian metal should be, it's a shame what happened. Had they stayed together, the next record would have been massive. Don't get me wrong, I like some of Derrick's stuff, but Sep just never fully recovered. 3, Prophecy, and Dark Ages are the golden ages of Soulfly in my opinion. It seems they really found their sound after experimenting for a couple albums and getting over the Sepultura split, struggling to find enough difference to create something new while staying traditional. After that, I think Max read in a magazine (pretty sure I remember the article) where they graded bands' heaviness and it wasn't what he wanted so he went back to playing heavier, yet a little more generic metal. I still love it and buy every record, shirts, books...but to be honest I wish they stayed more on a path of Prophecy. The lyrical content was unheard of in metal, they music was undoubtedly unique compared to other acts, his wardrobe was awesome...but now he's back to studded leather and upside down crosses and stuff like that. It's a little disappointing after hearing some of the awesome content of earlier years that actually stood out from what every other metal band was doing. Almost like going backwards and staying there. I could never really get into Conquer and Omen. Archangel had some bright spots early in the record. Savages seemed like a step back to earlier days but didn't really stay there after that record. I still love Max, but I long for the days when Soulfly was really something different. I will say this though...what took so long to do a collab with John Tardy?!?! That seems like something that should have happened years ago! Looking forward to the new record. XXX
@joaorufino49528 ай бұрын
I get what you saying about Soulfly's change in sound, but it was likely the best choice to leave the nu metal sound after it peaked, I think that if he still played that shit, people would see Max just trying to recreate or hold on to the past that brought him success, although you could say that for him now, love his stuff early Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy is pretty badass as well

Been a fan of Sepultura/Max since I first heard 'Arise' back in the day. I'm thankful I got to see both Sepultura and Soulfly live years ago. Kind of lost touch though after the 'Dark Ages' and the CC albums. They stopped touring (at least in our area). He looks like he's aged quite a bit over the past ten years - then again, heavy metal isn't meant to look nice and pretty. Hopefully I'll get at least one more chance to see Soulfly live at some point.
