I just ordered my first Chris Reeve knife. Large Sebenza 21 with natural micarta inlays.

I bought my first Chris Reeves in 1990 a Shadow 2 Made in South Africa model number 234 (I was 18 at the time and cost me £160) and still have that amazing knife today. I also bought a Project 1 in 2005, a UMNUMZAAN (original large pivot) in early 2012 and in the last couple of weeks a lovely Sebenza 31 in Chad Nichols Boomerang Damascus blade with Box Elder Inlays and polished Titanium handles, these are amazingly made knives wish I'd bought more in the past!

I have a Mark IV # 76, and an aviator #234, made prior to the Black Jack connection, and the knives being marked 'Made in South Africa'. Both have the very light knurling on the handles as shown in this video, and hand made sheathes with heavy white stitching that I was told were made by a friend of Chris.

I think part of the reason this interview worked so well is in part to the girls personality. Despite what you guys say about her being "dumb" I think she just donsmt understand English very well and Chris usually doesn't open up this much he's usually pretty dry and closed off, so I love this video

I own a GB knife and it's great. I also own two Sebenza's, a Professional Soldier, and a Nyala. I'm currently waiting on delivery ov my first one piece Shadow III. I came across a serialized Yarbororgh at a gun show. I don't know the situation that put it into the market, but If I had the cash then, or have found one today, I would have purchased it and tried to return it to a family member or put it into a museum.

I worked on a ranch near Boise in 1964, when I was 14. Boy has it grown. The big thing I remember was the jet airplane in the city park...I now have 6 one pieces and 3 folders. Great knives for cutting.

I’ve been questioning myself why this cpm s35vn knife is settled HRC55-57. Other CRK knifes or some close comparison such as spartan marks HRC 58-60.
@graniumhdz4193 жыл бұрын
They made their s35vn at 59-60 hardness. Where did you get that they were doing 55 from?

It's areal shame that the questions were being asked by someone who knew nothing about the subject. And what the hell is a MOKE UP.
@jespersrensen221610 жыл бұрын
A Mock up is a form of prototype. When you design stuff you always make a mock up to "see" the product, discover fails, get better ideas, make last minute changes before you turn the item over to the production unit and let them run it and make a product out of it. A product that will end up in the shops.
@8steve8810 жыл бұрын
Jesper sørensen I know what a mock up is - unlike the editor of the video, if you watch it it calls a mock up and on screen caption called it a moke up. An interesting pair of videos ruined by the lack of a half decent host interviewer, I'm sure that she was thinking the audience would be as clueless as herself.
@jespersrensen221610 жыл бұрын
8steve88 ooo' ok now I got it. Yes you are right. She is good looking, bet that's why they didn't care about her IQ. She is eye-candy for the 1000's of men who watch this vid.

@believeit32036 жыл бұрын
Hardly, seeing as how Chris was making them in the 1970's. Schrade contracted with Chris Reeves, paying for the copyright to make their line. And they are beasts. I own the largest of them with a spear point. Indestructible, but so very heavy. Great knife for the truck or for the camp, but definitely not for carrying long term. am thinking about a shorter version and have been looking at the smaller tanto blades

This is interesting but would have been nice if the interviewer actually knew something about the topic... also what in the world is that god awful background music nonsense when people are speaking in it... I have to listen so intently to make out what they are saying... The editor needs to be fired... wouldn't even finish watching this but it doesn't seem like there is many more interviews out there. I love CRK knives and own several, don't think much if anything compare.
@shonuffisthemaster10 жыл бұрын
this show seems high on the sensational and low on the meat, pretty much just an advertisement for the knife maker. Chris Reeve I also feel is over rated, many competent users have reviewed his 1 piece series and found them lacking in many areas, most people in the know would choose a knife costing 1/3 what these cost. Soft A2 (55rc) with a deep hollow grind, fragile edge without allot of chopping ability, all this in a very heavy knife due to its steel handle. People have broken these in normal use, a full tang knife is more than adequate as far as strength. In cold / wet environments the handle sucks the heat right out of your hands, which could be fatal if you were relying on it to make a fire, it could easily speed up the loss of dexterity due to cold.
@sanfranciscobay9 жыл бұрын
What would you use to cover a fixed blade knife handle with so it is durable but not cold?
@shonuffisthemaster9 жыл бұрын
SanFranciscoBay G10 or micarta are popular choices, both do decently in the cold. probably some rubbery matereal like kraton would be the best insulation though.
@shonuffisthemaster9 жыл бұрын
***** I should have been more clear, I was talking about his one piece series, which was the first knife of his that I saw (in the 80's, pre sebenza I believe) looks like he doesn't make them anymore as of 2009. These were indeed made of A2 steel and were one piece, and in my and many others opinions not a very functional design and overpriced, but this design is what made him famous. I assume your talking about the sebenza, in that case its a different story. I still think they are overpriced, but there's no denying its a very well made and practical knife. I'm not really much of a "folder guy" so I don't really pay attention to them. sorry for the confusion.
@bluegrasssurvival94237 жыл бұрын
So you're basically trying to defend your knife purchase more or less? I saw Cliff Stamp do a hard review of the Green Beret and needless to say alot of much cheaper knives took the abuse better. Even the Gerber LMF II took more abuse then this knife did. Cliff Stamp even went on to say that this knife was a dissapointment and that for 350 bucks he couldn't recommend it at all. This knife is billed as a hard use survival knife but if you had to abuse it then I fear this thing would fail hard.
@Icecold1857 жыл бұрын
I have a Chris reeves green beret knife, maybe that makes be biased but do you think the us SPECIAL FORCES is biased? No. they want to choose the one knife that they can DEPEND THEIR LIVES ON. Point blank.
