I noticed there are makeshift barricades in and around the entrance to the strip that resemble barricades similar to the Legion's camp, is it a stretch to say that there was some sort of battle over new vegas just like with hoover dam?

Everyone is wrong, no matter the choice you choose Vegas ends in chaos AND you have to destroy the remaining brotherhood, they send out a distress signal to the commonwealth, prompting them of like archamedies and the vast technological advancements of new Vegas, making them not only bring the prydwyn, but liberty prime. Liberty prime would have taken down those walls, and who created liberty prime? Mr house. I think Mr house had to once and for all take down liberty prime, forcing the brotherhood to leave to California, with only the prydwyn, and no liberty prime.

.... This makes zero sense, why even have a game where your choices are so mountain moving and have real weight to them if they can be undone barely over a decade later? The showrunners want to have their cake and eat it too, by having the story not directly saying anything but then show massive events with zero explanation so that they 'technically' don't canonize anything. What a clusterfuck of an approach. Events like Shady Sands falling and then being nuked, and then New Vegas falling should never be dismissively done off-screen. "Like yeah, the setting, places, and factions you all knew and loved? Well we didn't even think they were important enough to fully show on-screen, so instead you'll only hear about it second-hand and through vague flashbacks."

It's why when showing their headquarters in the credits, the only time, we get some uplifting revolutionary-esque music with no lyrics. The show portrayed the NCR as the victims and the people attempting to do the right thing, and the BoS as the incompetent invaders obsessed with their fanatic ideals and tech.
