Oak Ridge Boys weren’t a cappella back then. This is their song - a hit in the 80’s. Tim (bass of Home Free) has a lot of fun with the audience when they do this live in concert. He goes really low. Home Free just dropped a new song Skull and Bones that Chance wrote for the Ubisoft game of the same name. It’s great!!! These two groups really like each other. 🥰

Oak Ridge Boys are a 4 part harmony gospel and country group and are truly legends in country music. Decades of making hit music and their signature sound has been tight harmonies. They've been mentors to HF and its a mutual admiration between both groups. Austin got the t-shirt he had them autograph as a teenager attending one of their concerts and it now hangs framed in his home. This is HF singing with their heroes.

Dang I've never heard any of their music, not surprising I guess since country music doesn't get a lot of radio play in New York. Thanks for sharing the information Daleb. These guys were great.

Richard Sterban , the bass for the Oaks , sang backup for Elvis before he joined the Oaks ! These two groups are fire together !

The Oak Ridge Boys , not a vocal band, but country music superstars, released "Elvira" and it became a #1 hit in 1981. "Elvira" is now considered one of the Oak Ridge Boys' signature songs. They collaborated with Home Free to do this a capella version in 2015. Home Free considers ORB as mentors. Thanks for this reaction!

Thanks for watching Donna, and thank you for explaining the history of the ORB. I've missed out on a lot of good country music.

Loved Tim's shout-out to Geoff Castellucci a fellow bass singer and founding member of VoicePlay. They were on The Sing-Off together and are good friends.

The Oak Ridge Boys are legendary. The singing, harmonies & Adam's crazy beatboxing are as terrific as the obvious respect and affection the two groups have for each other. HF has another collaboration with the Oaks of "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" - it's jaw-dropping. Thanks for playing this & your comments.

There are 5 - when Chris Rupp (baseball cap) left for other pursuits in 2016, Chance took his place. They each have channel(s) of their own as well.

RIP Joe Bonsall, tenor for The Oaks (gray mustache). The man had a great voice all the way to the end.

This was realyy fun to watch! Elvira is such an iconic song and just makes you want to groove. You should also check out the video colab Home Free did with Voiceplay. They shouted out Geoff Castellucci, the bass singer for Voiceplay, for his arrangement of Elvira that they used in this video. It is on Voiceplay's channel and is a cover of Survivor by Destiny's Child. Geoff also has a solo channel where he sings all the parts, does his own arrangements and films and edits everything himself. His cover of Man of Constant Sorrow is great and completely different than Home Free's cover. Looking forward to more Home Free and hopefully Geoff & Voiceplay!

Fun bit of trivia: The Oak Ridge Boys got their name because that was the name of the street they all lived on when they formed.
@LouThunderBomb6 ай бұрын
So they knew each other as kids and formed a band? You don't see that kind of come up these days. That's awesome.

Their name came from Oak Ridge Tennessee. The place the USA built the first atomic bomb.

@@kimberlygarwood-jl5om You're right. I stand corrected.

This song was written in 1966 and recorded by Dallas Frazier then the Oak Ridge Boys recorded it in 1981 and it doesn’t have anything to do with the real Elvira cause this was written way before she started the persona. One interesting fact about Elvira though is she got tils from drag queens on how to do her makeup. She said the only difference between her and other drag queens is she doesn’t have to tuck. The Oak Ridge Boys were smart to ask Home Free to sing with them on this. This gave the Oak Ridge Boys and Home Free a new audience base.

Always 5 members in Home Free, and only one member change since 2012 - Adam Chance replaced Chris Rupp as baritone in 2016 (Chris is in this video - baseball cap). Same 5 since then, just their appearance changed sometimes (haircuts, etc.) Avi was featured in Ring of Fire, but he was never a member.

I thought they added a guy from Pentatonix that was in the ring of fire song?

Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) is still hot at 72 years of age.
