The Jubalaires were a gospel group active between 1935 and 1950. Previously known as the Royal Harmony Singers in 1936, the band was known for song verses delivered in a rhythmic, rhyming style that has been described as an early version of rap. Their 1946 song "Noah" is often named as the first recorded instance of rap.

The original video was from 1944 but the song was written in 1940. I guess music , just like any other history, can be prone to be forgotten only to be rediscovered.

Rap is a byproduct of hip hop which came from the Bronx. I get they mean when people started rhyming while in a song like that was the start of rap. But even if we think about that just a little further, I’m sure some caveman back in the day did the same thing with his language to some sick drum beats from his tribesman

@@joemac84 I respectfully disagree. I once belied, I no longer do. I still have a purpose that’s outward looking and bigger than myself, it’s just no-longer dependant upon the idea of a God. Perhaps some thoughtful conversations with people in my situation may help you to get a three-dimensional idea of how others think.
@mattaustin2128
@mattaustin2128 Жыл бұрын
@@joemac84 Right and wrong? I live in a world with a lot of others. I make my choices and live my life in such a way that I do the most good and cause the least harm to myself and others. My purpose is found in enriching the lives of people with positive experiences, supporting those who struggle by words and actions, enjoying meaningful experiences, and trying to make a difference every day. I want to leave this life having left the world a better place. That’s a pretty good purpose from where I’m looking. It’s not dependent upon an arbitrary list of rules in a book, which is interpreted in many different ways by different believers, and can be used to justify all sorts of unkind behaviour.
@mattaustin2128
@mattaustin2128 Жыл бұрын
@@joemac84 I was careful to use the word ‘behaviour’ rather than focus on the people involved; it’s the behaviour I’m troubled by. I don’t read hearts, I know that people can do good things for bad reasons, or bad things for seemingly good reasons. And in using the term ‘arbitrary’, I’m pointing out that many people appear to interpret them according to their own focus or whim, to justify choices which harm. The rules of faith can inspire and give form to great kindness; my mother in law believes and she works hard to follow the scriptural example of Matthew 25:31-40. Then I see some people making ghastly decisions, treating others like garbage, yet they’re held up examples of Godliness by many, particularly evangelicals in the US. Can Kenneth Copeland fly one of his private jetliners through the eye of a needle? If I claim that all life is sacred, yet I work hard to disenfranchise those who live in poverty, am I of God? I once believed, I studied the scriptures, theology, philosophy, history, and human behaviour. Prayer was a regular part of my day, and d my heart. I gave my life to serve God and others, yet as time went on, I found the justification for belief fading, the ‘proofs’ failed, the classical arguments no longer satisfied. So, I kept walking, but without faith.

@@Bassic Nah man! I think about this a lot, especially when it comes to releasing music. The days of being "too old" are gone, that was all built on a foundation of needing to be a certain age for a record label to build you. Nowadays, the internet doesn't give a shit how old you are bro. a 70 year old releasing music has just as much of a chance as a 20 year old releasing music now. Once you have eyeballs, thats it, you can keep those eyeballs, age doesnt matter. And once you have eyeballs on you, thats money, especially on youtube. They're looking at ya! The only thing missing now is consistency! With that being said, that's just my little ramble - do what makes you happy man, and maybe thats nothing. IF so, great! I'm happy for ya, enjoy! But remember, age doesn't matter anymore. The internet doesn't care. The internet doesn't even want to know how old you are.

@@PizzaBeer-op2fqI get what u mean by definition and specifics sure we can call it rap but it’s not really rap in the perspective we’ve had for the past 30-40 years it’s more so a melodic church type of song in my opinion, rap has a cultural identity to it , the ghettos , hardships , struggle , concrete jungle etc rhyming each sentence with the next im no music expert just a listeners opinion , we tend to look for those characteristics when defining rap not to say that u can’t make rap without mentioning those things but it’s just what we’ve become acquainted with , those hardcore punchlines , metaphors , similes etc to compare words with one another & to rhyme the end of each sentences as well as multiple rhymes in one sentence as well as 100 different ways to manipulate the listener , rap can be very complex in so many ways depending on the artist as well , as well as beyond simple like nursery rhymes . Well it’s much more explainable & complex from a music expert standpoint who really knows the ins and out about Rap , this was just my opinion & observation as a avid listener we all have a different opinion on the definition of rap & what defines it but this was not rap more so a church song with melody & multiple people singing along at the same time with no punchlines or hard similes just a classic sing along song for a great Sunday morning .

Bob Dylan Subterranean Homesick Blues. Totally a rap song in its purest form. Agree or disagree? Thanks.

Hip hop does not come from jamaica and it wasnt created by a jamaican. Bambaataa made that up and really started to push the lie with the source mag cover. Jamaican music reggae and dancehall was created by jamaicans copying American music like r&b, soul and hip hop. All the jamaican music pioneers are on video saying this. Count machuki, sir coxsone, uroy and bob marley all say jamaicans were copying americans
