from Wikipedia: "The Jubalaires were an American gospel group active between 1935 and 1950. Previously known as the Royal Harmony Singers in 1936,[1] the band was known for song verses delivered in a rhythmic, rhyming style that has been described as an early version of rapping. Their 1946 song "Noah" is often named as the first recorded instance of rap."

Daaaaaaammmmmn, does anyone else think that these ancient rappers were tighter on the beat than most of the rappers of today, how the hell are we going backwards in our art, smdh...

Well notice the lack of ego. NO boasting, no flexing, no ice, no fast cars or bad "bishes", no alcohol or drugs etc. THats how our culture deteriorated. Another point to take into account; What we largely consider black culture today is really just southern poor white culture. (Think about it, poor black culture contracted alot of these habits from their closest counterparts in the white culture: The southern poor whites. To be fair to our white brothers also stricken with poverty, all of these habits are coping mechanisms offered by the elitists and industrialists. So as we became friends with them, we also started getting their bad habits and their coping mechanisms.)

@@munkqiking7207 that true, rap originally was the voice of the ghetto, now it's the voice of wannabe gangsters or wannabe millionaires. Plus, black culture originally came from the Scots and the Irish, who eventually became the poor whites of America and the Carribbean islands, 300 years ago their culture was exactly the same as black American culture today.

Devout Christian black men invented rap. The people caught up in identity politics will be so heart broken to know this. As a Christian man myself, I think it’s awesome.

Amen. It pleases my soul knowing Hip Hop is actually a SPIRITUAL based genre. Differing from GOSPEL by adding multiple tools/instruments.

The comment you're making about how rap comes from _Christian black men_ is entirely about identity politics.

Yawn… More virtue signaling…as if claiming to be black and Christian isn’t playing identity politics. 🥱

Yo man.....The Jubalairs were GREAT as the FIRST rap group lol...In 1946 they didn't have the Gang Shootings, Drugs, Whores, Money and gold, Stealing, Living big, Killing shit to Rap about to get noticed. For one, dude....I like their classic beats and will go OFF on anyone who downs them as a Classic Rap Group. And this is coming from a 50 year old who was raised on 70s rock/metal!
