Is that the case that happened at the Amazon estuary? If so people were supposedly attacked by objects in the sky that zapped them with bright lights which left burn marks. A female doctor treated the villagers but didn't believe the stories of lights coming through walls and ceilings, but she ended up being attacked in exactly the same way after leaving her surgery one day. The Brazilian army then came and investigated, but the interesting thing is that all the paperwork the army created while investigating was then purchased by none other than Bob Bigelow (through NIDS I think). I'm sure it was called operation plate.

I sware a couple of years ago I got on to a list of UFO reports that were legit reports on a Australian database.One of the reports was from 1901 where a farmer in New South Wales Australia reported that a couple of hundred metres from his farm house was a object that looked like two plates placed face to face together and metallic looking it landed and little beings came out moved around went back into the object and then the object flew away. I must take the time to refind this report.

America seized (two?) aircraft; the Horton Ho-229, and its variant(?). One said to be a bomber and the other, smaller in size, to be its protective support fighter (not 100% sure about the second plane, to be honest)... aaand I'd give the 229 a Google Image search before you read any more... theeen go ahead and look at Kennith's "saucer" drawing again. ...then once seized, were brought back to America for backward engineering... being as they were *nearly* combat ready JET AIRCRAFT... in WW2!!! Witch is suuuper important, because no one would have ever seen maneuvers only jets like that could perform, back then, before jet aircraft were militarized, popularized, commercialized or let alone, even 'a thing' yet. Concept jets had existed at the time, but not in FULL use by any public or army, bla bla blah... Also important, with no vertical, or additional horizontal tail stabilizers, these planes would have greatly reduced maneuverability, even if they were jet powered. Leaving them limited ways of "stearing" the planes. Giving them basically two options, banking left and right aaand up and down. And combos of the two moves. My theory: Kenneth saw a squadron of American built, backward engineered, Nazi Ho 229 aircraft going for a test flight, training mission. And the reason he said it looked like "saucers skipping off water" is because that would be the pilots pushing, and finding the jet powered limits of going up or down(one of technically two moves). And it probably did look, really similar to a rock skipping on water... If I saw a rock on a shore, that looked like a flat crescent moon, I'd whip it and skip it.

Yep, there were reports of cigar-shaped crafts or blimps witnessed before 1900. One prominent example was the UFO that apparently crashed in Aurora, Texas in 1897. Whether this was real or a hoax is debatable - just like any other reports of UFOs, even Roswell.

Kenneth Arnold gave several conflicting descriptions of them over the years. Another thing is he claimed that they were a little smaller than a DC4 aircraft, but that he saw them when they were 15 to 25 miles away.

You can find out many more than your father tells you. Today there is a lot of open study and amount of evidence you can read or watch about. Also there are too many military and governments guys who has step forward to tell the truth. One of them is Robert Dean who says we are visited by ETs from another dimensions too.
