Loved the discussion! Rant and spoilers ahead: Sadly, in Germany these books are marketed horribly. They are mainly marketed as the chronicles of the farseer, meaning they promote all Fitz trilogies belonging together, without mention of liveship or rainwild. Liveship was available way back in the 2000s, but now is only available on ebook and is marketed as a “stand alone” trilogy- no mention of the greater realm of the elderings. Rain wild was just released in German starting in 2021 and they market it as a Farseer “spin off”, which can be read “completely independently”. It makes no sense and it makes me sad, that readers, who aren’t as informed might never get the full realm of the elderlings experience. What’s worse, they actually spoil Bee’s existence and her relationship to Fitz ON THE BACK OF FOOL’s ASSASSIN + the first book is called “daughter of the dragon”- go figure. All around, this marketing is a huge disappointment. Luckily, I read them in English in the right order.

Whatttt?! I had no idea! That is such a bummer honestly...there's something so essential about reading them in the correct order that heightens the experience significantly! That's a shame that it's like that in Germany...I will say, many of the UK and US editions have major spoilers on the backs of the books too lol as a result, I have just stopped reading the backs of books completely lol I'm so happy you were able to read the books in English and in the right order though! What an outstanding journey this series is!

Chade makes decisions which are as poor as Fitz as well. Not telling Fitz that Shun and Lant were his children was ridiculous especially as he knew how oblivious Fitz can be.

Oh absolutely...every single character in ROTE is flawed and Hobb's not afraid to put that on display for all of us and I love that about her books!

around 31:40 when you guys talk about the dog seller and that whole situation, I felt the same. Honestly, a nice recall to badgerlock's anger that was both justified and something a reader would need in order to not dnf the book at that point. Great incorporation of the wit for both bee, Fitz, and broader views on what is humane treatment for animals.

I think seeing Fitz's pain at Molly's death was the perfect way to frame it, especially from someone who didn't know him all that well, but still has the same wit and skill sense as he does. She may not know the why or how of it, but through those senses she can really feel her father's love for her mother in a way that makes her look at him in a different way- cuz she just didn't know. And the way he just kind of pours out his mourning into the skill without even thinking really makes me think of wolves howling at the moon. An emotion so strong they just have to send it out. The reactions and acceptance of the coterie to this sudden sending that they sensed and all that was really well done too, because you know how much they care about Fitz, even if Fitz doesn't realize it himself. Although sad, it was a beautiful moment of learning. I'm only 16 min in and I know I'll have my own reactions and thoughts that I'll have to share about it later on, but I don't think I can watch all of this in one sitting, as much as I want to, so yeah... I'll keep adding comments later, if that's alright with you.

23:50 Hap was always the grateful son with little to no problem with Fitz for the most part, and he also came into his care as a bit of an older child. Infants, Fitz has no experience with infants and toddlers, and with the prophet geneology getting mixed it, it's easier to accept his mistakes that he has to make by himself in order to learn what the right to do is. but he's not exactly by himself and Revel's death later on just hits so hard...

I've always wanted secret passages and rooms in the house since I first learned about them as a kid. They're just so darned cool, and can be practical (god forbid) in the worst case scenario.
