Exactly. Just like False Super Saiyan vs Lord Slug, when they wanted to give Goku SSJ, but he didn't have that transformation yet. So it was something between Kaioken and SSJ.

False SSJ actually doesn't have standing hair. It's just windswept like the kaioken. There is one frame before Goku jumps at Slug where It's his base form hair.

SSJ2.5 is another forgotten transformation, it only appears appears for a second when he was transforming into SSJ3 a rh front of Majin Buu. If someone interfered Goku, we would have SSJ2.5 which is just twice stronger than SSJ2 considering SSJ3 is 4 times of SSJ2.

Maybe the original idea was for it to multiply 500x, that is, SSJ1 50x, SSJ2 100x and SSJ3 500x, but as we all know SSJ3 is a non-perfected transformation, and maybe and just maybe it multiplies 400x because it is not dominated (by the wear and stuff) and maybe that's why you don't have eyebrows either.

We know how Turles gained his variant of that power (by eating strong fruit from a strong tree), but we simply don’t even know how Cumber got his (training, good genetics, finding an evil artifact, eating tons of evil fruit for decades or eating a special evil fruit, it’s completely unknown). Cumber is just this ancient battle hungry Evil Saiyan whose power can challenge gods, can effect others with his power to fight for him, may have faced or at least has seen the original Super Saiyan God and can use different SS forms, but that’s all we know (some like Turles can obtain similar power, though it’s unclear if he actually gained exactly the same power Cumber did or if it’s just a copy of his power designed by Fu when he created the tree).

In the movie Lord Slug ( more non canon ) he had this transformation. I believe this was before super saiyan hair was made golden. From what i can see it actually aired in japan on the 10 days before super saiyan was revealed in the manga. March 9,1991. super saiyan was march 19, 1991

The way Super Saiyan Power and the Lord Slug transformation are drawn is different enough that I personally believe in the vast world of non-canon Dragon Ball, these are separate things.

The Lord Slug Movie version of it is actually supposed to outright be Super Saiyan, but because it hadn't been revealed in the Manga or anything like that they didn't have a definitive design for it at all, so the fandom dubbed that "False Super Saiyan" Super Saiyan Power is a bit different in that it's just the Super Saiyan aura and hairstyle on Goku without the golden colours, False Super Saiyan sort of had its own colour scheme going on

I’ve always had the head cannon that once you unlock a new form you can tap into some of it’s power in a previous form/base. I think it covers for some of the weird moments where it seems like they would need to have transformed to even put up a bit of a fight, but they still need to transform to use the upper limits of that form’s power.

Yup. This would make the most sense. Tbh there's a few fights in this arc where enemies seem too strong to fight in base like Dabura or even Pui Pui but Vegeta's hands also get the SS glow before blasting him. It eliminates the debate about SS multipliers which I've never liked personally.

Bro, don't listen to this people in the comments who are trying to add in-universd logic to this change in animation. They're literally the same damned thing, Super Saiyan, recolored and made to seem like it isn't. Even if they tried to give an in-universe explanation or name, they'd be the same thing (False SSJ). Goku has really never gone SSJ without pupils in the first place. It was just an expression to represent his rage and need at the moment. That's more of a Broly thing.

If I have to make a headcanon, he suppressed his own rage while drawing out a portion of his Super Saiyan power when attacking. If you think about it, it's similar to UI Sign, as both are incomplete state of their forms

Considering he doesn't have to use rage to access SSJ now, I have an alternate theory: He didn't want to fully give away his transformation ability to Pikkon for a tactical advantage, but he also couldn't beat Cell in base, so he used this quasi form to partially use SSJ's power.

@@projekttaku1 I would say he controlled the rage when using SS. He still need anger, but control it. It is the point of the nature of what an SSJ is and what Grade 4 entail or how Broly can control his Super Saiyan is that they need to control the rage that needed for Super Saiyan to use it more naturally. Though thinking back, you could be right as unlike UI Sign as a incomplete and unstable attempt to use MUI, Super Saiyan power seems to more like partial state of SS that willing draws out without any unstableness. I still think as a nature of SS, you still need a feeling of rage to use Super Saiyan Power, but suppressed.

@@MinhLe19303 Grade 4 simply has no rage. That's why its perfect. He can sleep, chill and relax in it with no emotional catalyst, essentially a more powerful base form. But I do see your point. I think False Super Saiyan lines up more with your UI Omen/Rage fueled analogy.

Originally, it was stated as a coloring error by the animators. You forgot Gohan finishing garlic jr and his crew off when garlic returns after frieza. His power looked the same.

The black hair was actually meant to be like this when the saiyan powers up, but the hair color came because toryiama didnt want to color them in, in the mangas, then it was later adapted from the mangas to yellow on television, because without a color it would look like a plain powerup in base form with spiky hair and a strange invisible aura and the whole sencing energy thing would play to be so much more important.

The true forgotten saiyan transformation happens in old Slug from Namek movie ,when Goku goes mad with anger in form, loses his mind with no pupils and gains golden Aura while remaining Kaioken red in clothes

Vegata didn't use super saiyan power. He unlocked Ultimate Vegeta on his own. No Old Kai needed.

This was also the case with the Lord Slug Movie. Gija Saiyan was suppose to be SSJ, but one of Toriyama's crew reminded him that they were doing the Namek Saga later that year.

No, Toriyama didn't even work on the movie. It was just that this was how Super Saiyan looked at the time. They changed how the super saiyan looked between this movie and the namek saga, because drawing the eyes blank made it too hard to convey emotion and one of his assistants pointed out that giving him white hair (in manga colors) would make drawing easier since they wouldn't have to ink his hair on every panel anymore. But at the point that this movie was made, this WAS Super Saiyan.
