I just gotta say: I'm a lifelong DIYer and I've wanted to revamp the interior of my 16 foot jon boat for years - move the console, add a live well, easier access to spaces while on board, etc. I actually did a boat about almost 20 years ago but added way too much weight. The hold up has been using aluminum. I don't weld and I didn't want to drop money on a mig welder that could do aluminum and I didn't think that rivets would work. I found this channel last night and stayed up most of the night designing the new layout. I will get started on it right after duck season is over. Thanks.

So I've always wanted a jon boat but being always on the move and never being able to settle down in one state makes it harder. Wife said heck with that this year and got me a 15ft fiberglass boat. All the wood inside is nasty and has to come out. Thanks to your videos I got an idea of how to build my boat. Any ideas for floor framework for a 1970s fiberglass boat? Thanks for what y'all do

Have you guys ever thought about building a rod locker without all those tubes and just an open space. I had an 18ft bass boat and hated those tubes. Such a pain in the rear. That was the first thing I removed from the boat. Made putting rods in and out so much easier. Having been in a bunch of Pro's boats as well, I have never seen one that still had rod tubes in it. When I build my tiny boat in the future it will not have rod tubes.

Great boat restoration TBN!! Have you ever thought of using (6061-T6)alum. "T" bar for amazing support on the main rails or are they harder to get and also McMaster-Carr has a wide variety of Piano Hinges that ships anywhere in the north america next day???

Big fan here, learned a bunch so far. Any clue on how many feet of angled aluminum is used on a typical 14 foot build? I'm roughly guessing 50 but honestly have only a very rough guess

I have a question for you my man. I’ve watched countless of your videos and can’t find one that answers my question. I have a Lund deep v im building. Have the whole deck framed and dry hatches framework (without draining system) as well as the lids for them made. I plan to use wood for the rest of the deck but with the square aluminum hatch, and it being raised up, how do I get my deck to be the same hight with the wood? It’s looking like my deck is going to sit lower than my hatches. Can you help point me in the right direction?

You route down a 1/8” groove into the plywood to fit the hatch flush in

6:20 It's hard to see the work you are doing in the garage because of the glare, camera angel, and moving too fast, pre piano hinge install. I'd like to see how the first 2 pieces are sistered.
