If you can't use the screen you can plug in a USB mouse with a adapter and use the mouse

@@takemo_ no all i did was plug in my otg adapter and old 2 button mouse into my tablet and i saved all my files from it and put them on my sd card (the screen is broken so im going to sell that tablet to get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4)

When they say it's un-repairable, they actually mean that it is not cost effective to repair it. Since Hugh didn't account for the labour he put in this, it might be 60 dollars (and a nice video) for him, but for a shop, it's like loosing money.

It was my local repair shop, they are horrendously bad at repairs with use of low quality parts and they cut corners wherever they can. Had someone with a iPhone 6s come to me after they had just charged the LCD and home button. The home button didn't have its gasket so was moving loosely around so the cable would likely break within a new weeks. it had a lose screw floating inside and didn't have the water resistant seal installed. So I am guessing they didn't know how to repair the LG G6 or just couldn't be bothered.

Love it how you're starting to do android repairs, will do this myself! Recently got a FREE iPhone 7 which I'll be doing a giveaway and restoration video on soon. My auntie is super-rich and has cracked her screen around 5 times finally giving up with her iPhone 7 and giving it to me for NOTHING!

Use b7000 adhesive instead of the double sided tape

This. It stays forever and also works as a gasket to prevent dust and a bit of water. When I used double sided tape it would always start lifting after a couple months.

If you ever want to test an Android phone with out the touch screen you can use a otg cable and plug a mouse in it will act as the touch screen

Please use T8000 & Tesa tape rather than that awful double sided tape you're using next time. Much better finish.

Yes, for me starting off by buying broken iphones and restoring them was the way to go. Still doing it, but if you want to start off, start it with an old iphone or android phone and make sure that you are able to fix phones, use high quality parts and all that. Good luck!

Minecraft bro51 yes as the iphones are always built the same way with the screen coming off first, the only iphone that didnt have it was the iphone 4s and before. With modern android devices it is a little harder to open up but the insides are alot easier to work with than an iPhone.

The G6 sadly was underspec'd for the year it was released since they didnt wait for the 835 to come out. Also its battery life is pretty subpar compared to other offerings like the S8. I loved my G4 but everything else sense has been kind of a let down when I looked into going back to LG.

Actually it was Samsung fault a out the CPU, they got all the 835s, forcing LG to use the SD 821 instead, otherwise it wouldn't have been released on schedule.

There are displays with frame installed on it readily available on AliExpress. Saves you the time and much reliable glue between frame and the display.

I have the silver variant and although my main phone is an iPhone 13 pro, I keep the LG around as a backup device and for music since it has a headphone jack lol, it still feels like a good phone even nowadays, I love the look too!

This was a pretty straightforward repair that went well. Just wanted to point out that using a metal pry tool around the battery is very dangerous since you can puncture it and start a fire, and that LG helps you out by putting a grip on the battery to help remove it. That's what the little blue piece was on the old battery, and it would have been a good idea to remove it and place it on the new battery.

The battery was poorly stuck in, at it bad been removed previously and they didn't install new adhesive. But yeah wasn't the smartest idea of mine ahaha.

Nice one. I'm just in process of repairing S6 Edge that I got for 25$. It was still working, but front and back glass was shattered. I ordered both of them, and I also got a brand new frame. So yeah, screen and new frame is already on place, still waiting for back glass to arrive.

hugh you are the BEST at repairing phones and i think it would be great if you could also make videos on imacs...or ipads...repairing and restoration....i think it would be a new experience and help a lot of people!
