The Freewell K2 VND Filter System - A Great Variable ND for Vintage Lenses

Hi guys! In this video I'll talk about the Freewell K2 and I'll explain why this system is a game changer for us videographers. I consider this Variable ND filter a must buy for event, documentary, press and wedding videographers. But if you're loving to film with vintage lenses, this K2 system is going to work very well even if you have lenses like Contax Zeiss 35-70mm F3.4, 80-200mm F4, Leica R 35-70mm F3.5, Iscorama 36/42/54, etc...In this video review I've tested the filter with my Panasonic Lumix S5, some clips were filmed with a custom rec709 profile and 90% of the video was filmed in V-Log. I'm genuenly pleased with the images I've got while using this VND filter and I will use it way more than I've expected...as you know, I never been in love with VND filters ;)

The NISI has been doing well so far. I do like some of the features on the K2. Hefty cost however 😅

Yeah, Nisi filter is also nice but it has some limits...the K2 is a more complete system both for photography and videography

Beautiful video! This looks like a fab VND... I'm still rocking my H&Y Revoring VND which is super versatile and also has a CPL, I'd be interested to see how these compare optically. I've been testing out FreeWells new mattebox recently which is really nice.

Thanks Ed! The H&Y filter seems pretty solid too, but I never tried it. The freewell mattebox system should use the same glass for the filters, so you can see the good performances of these filters 👌🏻 Maybe ask Freewell to send you an unit to review it. For traveling, it's nice to have something smaller than a mattebox 😆 Cheers buddy!

Mi interessa molto la possibilità di poter controllare oltre alla luce in entrata (ND variabile), la polarizzazione della luce. Da quanto ho capito per fare questo bisogna ruotare tutto il sistema, allentando le due viti rosse. E' sicuro lavorare in questo modo? Non si rischia di perdersi qualche pezzo? E' necessario svitare e avvitare nuovamente le due viti ogni qual volta si gestisce la polarizazione della luce, oppure è possibile tenerle "un po'" allentate per poter ruotare comodamente tutti e due i filtri all'occorrenza e rapidamente?

Ciao! Non ci sono rischi quando si allentano le viti, ci sono due agganci da dover sbloccare manualmente per sfilare il sistema. Puoi tenerle sempre svitate, ma non conviene perché magari il filtro ruota un pochino mentre ti muovi
