In this video, we talk with Paul Stewart at Genelec's US headquarters about the 8381a main monitor. 8381A empowers engineers and creators to perceive every sonic detail, offering true-to-life sound level and dynamics - with the full flexibility of free-standing monitor placement and advanced room adaption. It won the Sound on Sound 2024 Award and a TEC Award too!
One thing we failed to mention is that all three 15-inch bass drivers are powered from the bottom module.

I am wondering why they don't have interference from those four midbass drivers? How high do they cross on top?

The 4 midbass drivers only work from about 150 to 500Hz , then the coaxial unit in the waveguide takes over

It's because the spacing of the drivers (13”) relative to the operating bandwidth (250Hz-500Hz) ensures proper summing. If the crossover to the coax mid/tweet was higher (say 750Hz) the 13” spacing of the 4x5” would be too broad and there would definitely be interference. This is a brilliantly thought out acoustic package.

Ok, how many of you nuts out there would buy this and setup in your 20x14x8 (insane if less) room?

It all depends on the size of your room and at what distance you listen to these high teach monsters. Don't these make stronger movie effects for the film industry for our future children atmos movie theaters? What do you think ? Is the Genelec 8381 a more reasonable investment in terms of money and sound quality than the world's most expensive speaker Magico M9 which costs 1000 000 E? What do you think you get for your money?

This is definitely for movie producers to mix up sound tracks or a home theater application but for just mixing music, this is overboard.
